What Doom Slayer could look like in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

An awesome new animated Smash Ultimate victory screen featuring Doom Slayer makes the case for the Unchained Predator to join the fighting game as a DLC character.

Doom Slayer has long been rumored to be a Smash Ultimate fighter and with six DLC slots still available as part of Fighters Pass Volume 2, it’s more possible than ever for the marine to blast his way into the melee.

Popular animator MemoryNova took the character, who is fresh from his latest adventure in Doom Eternal, and showed what he’d look like if he’d just won a brawl in Smash Bros. The result was simply incredible.

Doom Slayer has been a long-requested DLC fighter.

In the cool screen, the marine jumps on top of a Cacodemon before punching him in the eye and leaping up into the sky. After a brief moment, he lands on the monster yet again, decapitating it while raising his weapon in triumph.

As a neat touch, Nova included Animal Crossing’s Isabelle as the second-place fighter in the bottom left corner – a nod to how Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched the same day as Doom Eternal.

This isn’t Nova’s first Smash Ultimate victory screen animation either. The skilled-artist also designed one for Halo’s Master Chief, another character rumored as DLC.

If that victory screen didn’t get you pumped for the idea of Doom Slayer coming to Smash already, it’s worth noting that Doom Eternal’s devs have straight up asked Nintendo to add their character to the game.

As Dexerto reported back in January, Doom Eternal’s director Marty Stratton told Metro Gaming that they reached out to Nintendo about the possibility of Slayer coming to Smash, but nothing came of it.

When pressed why, he replied, “You would honestly have to ask them… We’ve never been approached and said, ‘Hey can Doomguy be in Smash Bros.?’ But we’re open-minded if they wanna ask.”

Of course, this could have been double-speak designed to mask the fact that Doom Guy will be coming to Smash. Grant Kirkhope, who designed the music for Banjo-Kazooie notably said “I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you” at the prospect of Banjo coming to Ultimate, yet the bear and the bird ended up being the third DLC character.

Considering Doom’s importance to the FPS genre, his addition would be massive and could really set the internet ablaze with hype. Only time will tell what the future holds for the marine.
