Smash Ultimate pro Dabuz reveals updated 3.1 tier list

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pro Samuel ‘Dabuz’ Buzby revealed his new tier list following the 3.1 update, and it contains a few surprises.

The Super Smash Bros. series has long been one of the most accessible fighting games on the market but there’s a surprisingly complex meta hidden beneath all of that.

There’s a reason Smash Bros. Melee tournaments are still a thing and with Ultimate boasting the biggest roster the series has ever had, there’s a lot of balancing that has to go on behind the scenes.

What does Dabuz think?

Who better to hear about a tier list than from one of the best players Smash has to offer himself? 

He released a new tier list going through all of the characters currently in the game. While his word isn’t the be all end all by any means, it’s still interesting to see what one of the top players think.

It’s interesting to note that his own main, Captain Olimar from the Pikmin series, finds himself in the “Pretty Good” tier, which is his third tier.

On the horizon are new characters like Banjo-Kazooie, which has fans very excited for the future of the game. The bear and bird combo have long been wanted for Smash and they are officially coming this fall. 

The latest patch gave a variety of nerfs and buffs to a lot of the roster so if you haven’t played in a while there’s a lot to get used to. If you’re a fan of Smash and follow the competitive scene, there’s a chance your own tier list might reflect his.

It’ll be interesting to see how the new Dragon Quest characters and Banjo fall into the meta when they eventually release.
