Fortnite v12.40 map changes: New Prison, The Agency, more

HappyPower / Epic Games

Epic Games have introduced some new map changes to Fortnite following the v12.40 patch, with the update affecting The Shark, The Agency and more.

After revealing that Fortnite’s Season 2 would be extended until June 4, Epic Games have started to pump out more content for the popular battle royale with new map changes in the latest update.

In previous seasons, many of Epic Games’ updates would bring changes to the Fortnite map and, despite not releasing them as frequently in Chapter 2, Season 2, patch v12.40 has plenty for fans to discover.

The Shark

One of the biggest changes in the latest patch included some renovations to The Shark, which has been converted into a prison during the April 15 update.

Although there used to be a prison in Fortnite, near Moisty Mire in Chapter 1, this point-of-interest is much more modern and seemingly bigger than the previous version.

The Shark’s new prison is also marked with the Ghost faction’s logo throughout and could play a key part in the future of Chapter 2’s storyline.

The Agency

Despite only receiving a minor update, the map changes surrounding the Agency during the v12.40 patch are among the most interesting.

All five of the underwater hatches that circle The Agency have now been lit up following the April 15 update, suggesting that something big could be on its way soon.

Another change that has been made is that a new island was added to the map, close to The Shark’s prison, which features a small building with a cage of its own inside.

There has been a lot of speculation around the new room already, with some suggesting that the cage might be used to imprison Midas at some point during the season.

With more and more players downloading the new update and hopping into Fortnite, there could be more adjustments to the map that haven’t been uncovered just yet.

However, the changes that have been made so far seem to have provided fans with even more clues on what they can expect from Season 2’s end on June 4.
