Fortnite officially extends Chapter 2 Season 2

As many players had predicted, Epic Games announced that Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 has been extended.

There probably weren’t too many people who didn’t see this coming. The combination of everything going on in the real world and the fact that Chapter 2 Season 1 lasted five months seemed to be more than enough to signal an inevitable Season 2 extension.

Chapter 2 Season 2 was set to end on April 30 at the end of the month, kicking off the third season of the second chapter at the same time, but that’s obviously no longer the case.

Season 2 will now go on past April 30, according to Epic Games.

On April 14, Epic released a blog post that informed players they wouldn’t be releasing Season 3 on April 30 as first planned.

Instead, Epic have pushed the start date for Season 3 to June 4 – over one month after the originally scheduled release date.

In the meantime, Epic has promised fans “multiple game updates on the way that will deliver fresh gameplay, new Challenges, bonus XP, and a couple more surprises.”

Epic’s “plan” to release Chapter 3 on June 4 could be subject to change, however.

The blog post also said that Epic’s “plan” is to release Season 3 on June 4, which means that date is subject to change. Hopefully, the devs mean it when they say they have some new content in the works during the downtime.

Chapter 2, Season 1, was generally considered by players to be one of the most boring times in Fortnite’s history when it comes to new content. For the five months of the first season, all we had was the Harpoon Gun, Winterfest, and a Star Wars event to hold us over.

Season 2 though has already proven to be much more exciting, with both map changes, new items, and the new helicopters added to the game, making things much more entertaining than Season 1.

Helicopters have added a whole new dimension to Season 2.

With the new end date pushed back more than a month, hopefully, Epic has more new content coming to keep Season 2 from eventually becoming dull as well.

However, since there’s more time left in Season 2 this gives players longer to max-out their golden skins, which is very good news for those who might not be able to sink hours into grinding away every day.
