Best ways to use the new Chiller trap in Fortnite Battle Royale

The most significant addition to Fortnite in the latest update, v6.01, is the new ‘Chiller’ trap, replacing the recently vaulted bouncer.

The bouncer pad was a very popular feature, so it was a surprise to many when Epic Games removed them, but we should have known they had something else up their sleeve.

The Chiller trap is more seasonal, just as we enter winter and the new Halloween decorations going up – there is a suspicion that the map itself will get a snowy makeover come Christmas time.

Fans immediately tested out the Chiller trap in Playground mode, and in regular matches, showing off how useful the sliding feet granted by large ice cubes can be for moving fast around the map.

Strangely, the trap can work both in your own benefit as well as too frustrate opponents, especially if you catch them off guard.

Whether it is better than the bouncer pad or not in the long time we will have to wait and see, but it is a much needed fresh addition for season 6.

Like the bouncer pads, you can pair two together and create a ‘loop’, as shown by Reddit user u/kbachani.

And using the Chiller trap in tandem with the Shockwave grenade can turn your character into a Usain Bolt on the map, escaping storms or outrunning enemies at ridiculous speed.

Possibly the most ingenius use for the Chiller trap though, was discovered shortly after release, which is to place it jut next to one of the purple runes, giving a massive boost in speed.
