Despite the rise of TikTok and Instagram, YouTube remains the most used social media platform, with over 2.49 billion monthly users. But what is the most subscribed channel on the video platform?
While view numbers are the most crucial YouTube metric, content creators encourage their fanbase to subscribe to their channels in the hopes that they’ll come back to watch their content in the future and, in return, earn them more money.
Of course, for many, the race between Swedish YouTuber Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg and Indian production company T-Series is the first thing you think of when you consider the site’s most subscribed channels. With their war raging on for months, the Swede even dropped two diss tracks on T-Series.
Even other YouTubers were determined to help the creator in his fight, with creators like Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson paying for billboards to promote the Swede in his battle. Eventually, though, the war came to an end, and T-Series cemented its place as the top channel on the platform while PewDiePie started slipping down the top list after stepping back.
MrBeast has now emerged as YouTube’s largest individual content creator, with more than 300 million subscribers, becoming the first creator to reach the milestone, after launching a campaign of his own, challenging T-Series to a sub-count face-off “for PewDiePie.”
