PewDiePie destroys James Charles’ apology video to Tati

PewDiePie, James Charles - YouTube

YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is no stranger to controversy, and has made several apology videos following his scandals throughout the years – and now, he’s using his experience to dissect the apology video of beauty guru James Charles.

Charles uploaded a teary, eight-minute-long apology video on May 10, following Tati Westbrook’s 43-minute-long “Bye Sister” video that exposed Charles for allegedly using his fame to “manipulate” the sexuality of straight men and promoting a product from her direct competitor.

Many fans weren’t impressed with Charles’ apology on the topic, and his video has since become one of the most disliked uploads on YouTube of all time – prompting PewDiePie to step in and pinpoint exactly where Charles went wrong.

Kjellberg called Charles’ video a “trainwreck,” noting that the beauty guru didn’t explain much of the controversy currently surrounding him and spoke incredibly slowly throughout the duration of his message, also taking issue with Charles claiming that he would “make more mistakes” in the future before making visible efforts to improve.

“…this video did nothing,” PewDiePie said of Charles’ apology. “…I don’t know how James is going to come back from this. I think this actually could be the end, I don’t know.”

This wouldn’t be the first time PewDiePie has spoken out on the drama between Tati and Charles, either; in fact, Kjellberg appeared to pin the blame on Tati once the drama went live, claiming that he “had a lot of problems” with her statements in a Tweet before making his own video on the subject.

PewDiePie “couldn’t imagine” why Tati addressed her beef with Charles in such a public manner, rather than hashing it out between the two of them – and even felt she was using their feud to advertise her own vitamin brand, Halo.

“I can’t imagine making a video just publicly dragging someone instead of talking to them,” PewDiePie said of Tati’s video. “…“What has that to do with Tati’s brand? This is an ad.”

Tati has since released a second video on the issue, begging fans to stop dragging Charles with offensive memes and language, claiming that she’d made her initial statement as a “last-ditch effort” to reach Charles, as he was “unreachable.”

Tati’s spiel about Charles saw a massive drop in subscribers for the young YouTuber, costing him nearly three million subs – while Tati herself has risen to over 10 million subscribers in the aftermath of the drama.
