Jaclyn Hill explains sudden YouTube hiatus after Morphe makeup launch

YouTube star and makeup mogul Jaclyn Hill is once again facing the wrath of critics online, after seeming to disappear from her regular upload schedule following the launch of her second Morphe eyeshadow palette.

Fans are voicing their displeasure with Hill, who announced the second edition of her Morphe palette in early February.

While drama quickly ensued surrounding the product’s launch (including complaints that the star’s signature formula had been changed to a non-vegan mixture without notice), the eyeshadows themselves are taking a back seat in their latest complaints.

With Hill promising a makeup tutorial featuring her new brush line, fans were ready to watch the star get glam with her latest products — but instead, were left hanging, prompting a slew of comments accusing the star of only making videos to sell her creations.

However, Hill has since spoken out amidst the backlash, posting a series of Tweets on March 10 explaining why she’s taken a sudden step back from YouTube in what many critics have claimed is a trend.

“…I know a lot of people are wondering why I’m so absent on socials recently,” she explained. “I’ve decided to make my health my #1 priority. I briefly opened up about it in my video, but it’s very deep and I need help.”

The beauty guru continued her explanation by stating that she is taking time to focus on her physical and mental health, and is working with an “amazing team” of doctors and therapists to “detox” her body and return to a healthier state.

“…in this time of my life, I have to put myself first,” she continued. “Before anything else. I hope you understand and I can’t wait to get on the other side of this and share my journey with you!”

Despite her claims, critics still aren’t pleased with her lack of videos, with many accusing the star of “emotional manipulation” and only using her platform to sell her makeup products.

Hill’s statement comes after the star opened up about recovering from the backlash of her lipstick launch in 2019, with the mogul claiming that she “self-medicated” her debilitating anxiety over the matter with alcohol, leading to a swollen face and weight gain.

Although Hill has now stated twice that she is seeking therapy to address these health concerns, it doesn’t seem that fans are interested in hearing her side of the story as they are left hanging with no new content
