The VCT Americas League has concluded, and LOUD were able to once again beat their North American rivals in NRG in the Grand Finals. Here is a recap of the inaugural VCT Americas League.
It seems every regional league ended its split with two of their region’s rival teams duking it out. In the Americas, we saw a clash between the Brazilian powerhouse, LOUD, and their eternal North American rivals, NRG, which is made up of the old OpTic core from 2022.
Both rosters have a long history, with NRG’s core denying LOUD the Masters Reykjavik 2022 trophy, and LOUD denying NA the Valorant Champions 2022 trophy. They both met in the regular season, where NRG beat LOUD 2-0, however LOUD returned in kind with a 3-0 in the Grand Finals.
Meanwhile, throughout the regular season, Sentinels had an incredibly turbulent split with everything that could have gone wrong going wrong for the team. Despite all that, they just narrowly missed playoffs. Whilst Evil Geniuses, FURIA, and Leviatán slid right into the playoffs. The five-way tie was broken by which teams had better overall and head-to-head records, with 100 Thieves and Sentinels missing the cut.
With the standing being so close, it left the Playoffs’ power ratings up in the air. However, Evil Geniuses would go on to throw it for a big loop by beating the NA giants of Cloud 9 and NRG, making a cinderella run into both international tournaments.
At the end of VCT Americas, LOUD qualified for Masters Tokyo as the number one seed from the Americas, with NRG and EG representing the second and third seed. All three teams have also qualified for Valorant Champions 2023 in Los Angeles later this year.
Here is everything you need to know to catch up on the tournament.

VCT 2023 Americas League: Grand Finals MVP
Unlike the Pacific League which had two MVP awards up for grabs, VCT Americas only had one MVP trophy up for grabs, and it was the Grand Finals MVP.
Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro recieved the Grand Finals MVP not only for his leaderboard-topping performance, but for his shot-calling as well. This makes Saadhak the only IGL in VCT history to win an MVP award.

VCT 2023 Americas League: Format and schedule
The VCT Americas League began on April 1 with the regular season, where the ten teams faced off in a single round stage, with every match featuring a best-of-three format. Matches will be played on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, with the exception of the super week (Thursday through Tuesday) and the final week (Thursday through Saturday).
Only six teams progressed from the regular season to the double-elimination playoffs. In the end, the top three teams of the VCT Americas League will qualified for VCT Masters Tokyo and Valorant Champions 2023. There will also be a last-chance qualifier in July, giving teams one more chance to secure a spot at the Valorant Champions.
