For 12 lucky teams, it was a chance to shore up their VCT Circuit Points ahead of the big Valorant Champions event in September. It was also a chance to size up, yet again, which regions are excelling and who the favorites are ahead of the world championship.

OpTic Gaming were obvious favorites to return to try and defend their title — but they stumbled at the first roadblock after being swept by Guild in their opening match. They seemed to bounce back from that setback, but fell in the lower bracket finals vs eventual champs FunPlus Phoenix.

VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen: Recap

Eventual champs FunPlus Phoenix started out of the playoffs of the VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters in the lower bracket, while their opponents in the Grand Final, Paper Rex, cruised through the upper bracket.

FPX would survive challenges against Guild, DRX, and Fnatic, before taking on former champs OpTic in the Lower Bracket Final.

Paper Rex also had to play Guild, Fnatic and OpTic to make the Grand Finals, so come July 24 there was no clear sign who the better team really was.

The Grand Final at Masters Copenhagen would end up being one of the most epic in Valorant esports to happen yet. FPX and Paper Rex went the distance, trading maps back and forth until it all came down to Breeze.

Like every other map in the series, things were tight all the way until the end. However, FPX would pull ahead and secure the 13-9 victory on Breeze to lock the Championship up.
