Valorant players want “invisible” mode to hide from friends

Riot Games

Valorant players are calling on Riot to add an “invisible” mode feature to allow them to hide from friends while online.

Valorant has come a long way since its release all the way back in 2020, as the devs have constantly improved almost all aspects of the game with various updates.

More often than not, the community focuses particularly on the game-changing updates in patches, sometimes being new additions or tweaks to maps or Agents. But, slowly over time, Riot has improved Valorant as a whole with tons of little quality-of-life updates.

Nevertheless, with the devs always taking on feedback, players are requesting a small and simple feature that’ll let them appear “offline” to their friends.

Valorant players want to appear offline with invisible mode

Appearing offline is a common feature on consoles, with both Xbox and PlayStation allowing users to ‘appear offline’ to their friends.

PC platforms such as Steam, Epic, and EA also provide a similar feature that makes players look like they’re offline. And now, in a Reddit post on February 18, Valorant players are calling on Riot to let them do the same.

“I wish there was an invisible mode in Valorant. So that people in your friend list can’t see that you’re online,” one Valorant player wrote.

“Sometimes I just wanna play alone, and sure I can tell them that, but some people might get offended,” the player explained. “Also it just annoys me when I JUST logged on, and I immediately get like 2 party invites.”

They added: “Plus there are those people who are seemingly on val 24/7 and you just can’t avoid them. Sure I can unfriend them and I do that sometimes, but I have most of them added on other platforms or we have mutual friends so it could get awkward. Having an invisible mode would be a simple solution to that, I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem lol or maybe I’m just extremely introverted.”

In the replies, tons of Valorant players supported the idea, and believe it wouldn’t be that hard to implement into the first-person shooter.

“Seriously it would be a nice feature just because I don’t think it would be that hard to implement. Other platforms have it like Xbox or Steam,” said one.

However, according to some, we likely won’t ever see the feature come to the game for one particular reason: “Riot won’t let you do that because they want you to play with friends. Keeps more people engaged with their games,” one player argued.

“That would be such a good QoL change, so that’s exactly why they wont add it,” another joked.

But, it’s worth noting that League of Legends, Riot’s biggest IP, has a similar feature, allowing users to hide and appear offline to friends in the game’s client. With that said, it isn’t completely out of the question for the devs to add the same to Valorant.
