Valorant players furious over “scam” Radianite points system

Valorant's first new weapon since launch reportedly debuting in Episode 8Riot Games

Valorant players are furious with the Riot devs over the in-game currency system, claiming Radianite points are a complete “scam.”

Since Valorant’s launch, the in-game currency system has been untouched for the most part. For as long as we’ve known, Valorant Points have been used to purchase Agents and various cosmetics, while Radianite is used to upgrade owned weapon skins.

Typically, Radianite is obtained by leveling up the game’s battle pass or can be purchased using Valorant Points, which can be redeemed for variants, animations, and VFX upgrades for weapons. However, some players are calling out Riot for the system for being a complete “scam.”

Valorant fans frustrated with “scam” currency system

In a Reddit thread posted on January 11 titled “Radianite is a scam”, one player hit out at the current system in Valorant.

“What is the cash-grab currency? Why does it exist? Yes I know Valorant is a free game and I know they need to support development. BUT FOR REAL… if I’m paying $130 for a bundle, I shouldn’t have to use some secret currency to unlock animations/colors/etc,” they wrote.

“I should have access to all of it instantly because I just spent one hundred and thirty f**king dollars.”

They added: “I really shouldn’t have to make extra purchases to get the full value of my previous purchase. Radianite is predatory, and it really pisses me off.

In the replies, a ton of players agreed. Some claimed that Valorant’s system is the worst, while others said it feels like a slap in the face from Riot. “Yeah honestly Valorant has one of the worst monetization models I’ve ever seen,” said one.

“Yep. The whole in game currency is too much of a slap in the face,” wrote another. “They perfectly set it out so you always need to buy more. You can’t just buy what you need, you have to buy more so you’ll never have matching points.”

One added: “I get the whole ‘you don’t have to use radianite’ argument, but I definitely agree with you. It’s honestly way too overwhelming and sometimes feels like a slap in the face.”

Despite the introduction of Kingdom Credits in 2023, giving players more options to unlock certain cosmetics, the community is still very frustrated with the system.
