Most Valorant players are still learning how to use all of the game’s Agents, but a Riot developer revealed on April 24 that one of them is already in line for a rework.

Omen is Valorant’s resident shadowy hunter, and his abilities (for now at least) can blind opponents, teleport himself across the map, and leave the enemy team wondering where he’s going to pop up next.

Throughout the first few weeks of the beta, you’ve most likely had an Omen player in most of your games, but even though the Agent is seeing a fair amount of playtime, devs apparently aren’t satisfied with where he’s at.

Omen hasn’t anywhere near as controversial as Raze, but devs are going to revamp him anyway.

During a live stream on April 24, Valorant’s lead character designer ‘RiotMorello’ told fans on stream that Omen would be seeing some changes in the coming weeks that are already being tested internally by Riot Games.

Morello said that Omen will still be able to use his smoke and blind abilities, but “the way they get cast and how they interact with the world is subject to change,” as explained in the stream recap from Valorant YouTuber Qwixzo.

Firstly, his blind ability, called Paranoia, which the designer called “unreliable”, will be retooled to affect more enemies within the animation, since right now it doesn’t give Omen players an accurate sense of what area will be affected.

Morello also said the Agent’s ultimate was being looked at, but of course, he left out the details of exactly what devs were toying. Qwixzo said he believes that the changes would mostly be “style-wise, and not affect the character completely, for now.”

In addition to having his kit tweaked, the dev let slip that Omen will be sporting a fresh new look in the beta before too long as well. The new model will add three parallel glowing lines running down what we assume is his face underneath the hood.

“You’re going to see that three Wolverine scratches, that’s his face, that’s what he’s going to look like,” he revealed. “We haven’t had time to finish it yet, but it’s gonna look dope.”

Based on this concept art, we would have to agree with Morello on this one.

Omen is quickly becoming a lot of Valorant players’ favorite Agents to use, in part because of the havoc he can cause for enemy teams, and he maybe even more popular following this update.

Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when the Omen rework will go live, but Morello made it seem like it will happen sooner rather than later.
