Former G2 Esports Valorant player Jacob ‘pyth’ Mourujärvi has revealed that he is retiring from the game with immediate effect.
The 29-year-old announced the decision in a brief Twitter post, without explaining his reasoning or stating what the future holds next.
“It’s time for me to announce my retirement from Valorant,” pyth wrote. “Thank you for everything.”

pyth became one of Valorant’s first professional players when he signed with G2 Esports in June 2020, weeks after the game’s official release. He was the third Valorant player signed by the European organization, after Óscar ‘mixwell’ Colocho and Patryk ‘paTiTek’ Fabrowski.
He played an important role as G2 Esports became the dominant European team in Valorant’s early days. But after a run of poor results, he was benched by the team in June 2021.

pyth continued his career in Southeast Asia with Bleed Esports, signing with the Singaporean organization just before the start of the 2022 VCT season. He saw it as a good opportunity to make it to the biggest events but Bleed fell short in every regional tournament.
On August 15, pyth became a free agent after Bleed parted ways with their entire Valorant roster.

The 29-year-old retires from Valorant with over $33,000 in tournament winnings. Before competing in Riot’s FPS game, he played CS:GO competitively for a number of years on teams like SK Gaming, Luminosity and NIP, earning over $120,000 in prize money.
