Valorant lead designer Trevor Romleski has lifted the lid on the possibility of having Riot Games’ all-new shooter on Xbox and PlayStation consoles after its initial PC launch.
Ever since Riot began teasing Valorant, which was initially known as Project A, back in October, fans of first-person shooters have been eagerly anticipating getting their hands on the new title.
A raft of content creators got to grips with Valorant at an early preview session, with fans getting to see more footage than ever before on April 3 – the game’s viewership exploded on Twitch, as everyone hoped to get PC closed beta access. But, do the developers have plans for a console port once the PC version gets up and running?
Well, it was a question put to Valorant developers by Twitch star Tim ‘TimTheTatMan’ Betar during an interview he conducted after showing off a bit of the gameplay that he managed to capture.
“I know there’s a lot of questions about it, and I have no idea, is there any sign of trying to put this on console or are you guys mainly sticking PC?” the streamer asked before lead designer Trevor Romleski followed up with an answer.

“Our focus right now is on PC. We’re open to exploring new opportunities for other platforms, but for the time being what our current focus is, is on the PC platform,” Romleski answered.
Of course, though he didn’t give a clear yes or no on the possibility, the Valorant developer didn’t fully shut the door on the chances of having the shooter on consoles in the future.
If Riot did choose to launch on consoles, however, there would certainly need to be a switch up with certain controls and mechanics after Summit1g revealed that there would be no aim assist for controllers so mouse and keyboard users wouldn’t have to “worry” about that.
