Riot Games has finally revealed Agent 23 in Valorant as the fifth Sentinel, Deadlock. So, here’s a rundown of her abilities and when she’s playable in the game.
Deadlock is the newly introduced Agent in Valorant after Gekko. She hails from Norway and adds up to the Agent roster as the fifth Sentinel. She is one of the newest additions in Episode 7 along with a new battlepass, Team Deathmatch mode, Progression System, and more.
Her abilities allow her to deploy an array of cutting-edge nanowires to secure the battlefield from even the most lethal assault. She is quite different from the Agents we’ve seen in the game so far.
With that said, here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about Deadlock’s abilities and release date.

Valorant Agent 23: Deadlock
Riot has revealed their latest Sentinel as “Deadlock” who is from Norway. She is the fifth Sentinel to join the roster after Chamber, Cypher, Killjoy, and Sage.
Alexander Mistakidis, the Game Designer had to say: “Our gameplay goal for Deadlock was to create an Agent for players who wanted to hold their ground actively with their utility, as opposed to needing to set up their utility in advance.”
“Our hope is that this appeals to players that value being able to nimbly audible their plays and strategy based on information about their opponents.”
Hours after her official reveal, a lengthy story trailer premiered at Valorant Masters Tokyo that showed her backstory and how she fits into the world of Valorant.
Valorant Deadlock: Abilities
Being a Sentinel in nature, Deadlock’s abilities are perfect to either hold a particular site while defending or during retakes. Additionally, if an enemy is flanking or trying to execute a sneaky play, she can detect them early and lock them down.

The official gameplay reveal video shows that she can use one of her abilities to prevent enemies from taking control of a particular part of a site. Here’s a full list of her abilities and what they do:
GravNet (C): Equip a GravNet grenade. Fire to throw. Alt Fire to lob the grenade underhand. TheGravNet detonates upon landing, forcing any enemies caught within to crouch and move slowly.
Sonic Sensor (Q): Equip a Sonic Sensor. Fire to deploy. The sensor monitors an area for enemies makingsound. It concusses that area if footsteps, weapons fire, or significant noise are detected.
Barrier Mesh (E): Equip a Barrier Mesh disc. Fire to throw forward. Upon landing, the disc generates barriers from the origin point that block character movement.
Annihilation (X): Equip a Nanowire Accelerator. Fire to unleash a pulse of nanowires that captures the firstenemy contacted. The cocooned enemy is pulled along a nanowire path and will die if theyreach the end, unless they are freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.
Valorant Deadlock: Release date
Deadlock will be playable with the release of Episode 7 Act 1 on June 27, 2023. She was first revealed on June 24 via their official gameplay reveal video.
Now that the Progression System has been overhauled, you’ll need to unlock her by completing her Agent Contract. Agent Contracts will now act as a multi-level pass that unlocks Agents by earning XP and get automatically activated via free Event Passes. They stay active for 28 days, meaning players won’t need to manually activate them again.
