In the Cooper family, Georgie is certainly the ladies’ man – but why does he seem to have no friends in Young Sheldon?

When there’s trouble in Medford that doesn’t involve trying to buy uranium at nine years old, it usually points back to Georgie. As the oldest Cooper kid, he often feels the brunt of Sheldon’s special treatment during the hit prequel series.

When Young Sheldon first begins, Georgie hates being in the ninth grade with his younger brother, though he goes on to have much bigger problems of his own.

It goes without saying that Georgie is kept incredibly preoccupied during his time in the prequel, from dropping out of school to try his hand at working to lying to Mandy about his age before getting her pregnant. As far as friends go, they probably aren’t the biggest priority in Georgie’s life.

However, even when things settle down later on in life, Georgie seems as though he’s a lone wolf in his later years. When he is introduced in The Big Bang Theory, his adulthood is still in a fairly chaotic state, having divorced himself from any ties he once had.

Trying to figure out why Georgie never has any friends in Young Sheldon, one Redditor guessed: “They’re just probably not that important to the story they’re trying to tell. Georgie would still be where he is today whether or not they showed his friends in a scene or two. We don’t even see Missy’s friends all that much either.”

A second added: “I agree, he seems pretty well adjusted when it comes to getting along in school, so it’s likely a plot/time issue.”

Others disagreed, believing he’s “too busy hustling for friends,” and “things are written from Sheldon’s pov too. He probably just omitted them since he doesn’t care?”

A third rightly remembered, “He quit the football team, so I’m sure a lot of his social circle was lessened when that happened.”
