The new Star Wars series has cracked lore wide open, but does Yoda appear in The Acolyte?
Grab your lightsabers – we’re rooted deep in Star Wars lore with the franchise’s brand new TV show. You’ll recognize some action titans in the star-studded lineup, but The Acolyte brings something different, Jedi style.
With all 8 episodes now available to stream on Disney Plus, the series has been highly divisive among fans… and not just because of what the Jedi Order gets up to.
However, there are plenty of questions about the show that remain unanswered. He might be responsible for some of the most iconic Star Wars quotes, but will Yoda be in The Acolyte?
Is Yoda in The Acolyte?
Yoda is in The Acolyte – but blink and you’ll miss him. He appears at the very end of Episode 8 when Vernestra asks him for advice following Mae’s arrival on Coruscant.
We know The Acolyte is set during 132 BBY in the Star Wars timeline, around the end of the High Republic Era. For newbies, this section of time was also known as “The Golden Era,” with plenty of Jedis like our favorite dotted about in the galaxy.
This takes us to the Jedi Council, holding great importance during the Jedi’s expansion in the High Republic Era. At the time, Yoda was the revered Jedi Master we all know him to be, but was also traveling around the galaxy frequently.
Yoda’s travels meant that many were unsure if he would appear in The Acolyte, particularly after showrunner Leslye Headland bluntly ruled out his inclusion. However, after Sol heads back to Brendok to try and ‘save’ Osha from The Stranger’s clutches, he ends up being included.
The end of The Acolyte Episode 8 sees Mae and Osha essentially trading places. After bleeding the krystal lightsaber red and killing Sol – though this was done without a weapon – Osha agrees to train with The Stranger if he lets Mae go. He agrees, wiping her memory, leading Vernestra and her faction of the Jedi Order to find her.
Once back on Coruscant, Vernestra questions Mae about what she can remember, which isn’t much. The name Osha doesn’t seem to mean anything to her, but that doesn’t stop Vernestra asking her for help. After asking Mae to apprehend The Stranger, she appeals to the council with a new truth.
According to Vernestra, Sol killed his colleagues some time after they were all stationed on Brendok, returning to the scene to kill himself after being too overcome with guilt. After she does this, she approaches Yoda, asking him for his advice.

How old would Yoda be in The Acolyte?
Given The Acolyte is set about 100 years before The Phantom Menace, Yoda would be just under 800 years old.
Granted, Yoda isn’t exactly a whippersnapper, but that’s exactly why he’s one of the best Star Wars characters.
The existing timeline tells us Yoda lives to be around 900 years old. That means there’s still about 100 years left after The Acolyte before his demise. What’s even weirder is realizing that “baby Yoda” — who’ll star in the Mandalorian & Grogu movie — is actually about 50 years old.
Yoda’s age has also sparked rumors among fans about whether Count Dooku will make an appearance, too. A number of roles in The Acolyte are yet to be disclosed, so for now, it’s up to our imagination.
Will Yoda be in The Acolyte Season 2?
The Acolyte Season 2 has yet to be confirmed – but if it does happen, it stands to reason that Yoda would appear.
Fans see the back of Yoda’s head as the cliffhanger to the season finale, implying that more lengthy conversations – and bursts of wisdom – would continue if Season 2 was to go ahead.
Headland herself told Nerdist “I have no idea [about Season 2]. Well, not that I have no idea. I would say there are conversations. And I don’t know when that will happen. I don’t know when that decision will be made.”
According to an interview with Collider, Headland is hoping for a total of three seasons, which would leave plenty of scope for more Yoda if Disney agrees.
