Yellowstone fans have a new favorite character, and they’re being dubbed as one of the best written across the entire show.

Yellowstone is not a show that’s known for being “well written.” In fact, most would admit (hardcore Yellowstone fans included) that lost plotlines, questionable characters, and cliché drama tropes are some of the hallmarks of Taylor Sheridan‘s hit drama series.

But if you want to hate Yellowstone, you also have to love it, and fans have found plenty to love, too. While many of the best Yellowstone characters are deeply, deeply flawed human beings, there are a few who get by on their charms, wisdom, or endurance of all the Dutton antics.

One of those characters has recently found acclaim among fans for being one of the “best written” in the show. That’s high praise. But considering how this character often lifts up the Yellowstone episodes he appears in, it’s not a big surprise.

Yellowstone fans dub Mo as the “best written” character in show

On the Yellowstone subreddit, fans have been taking the time to applaud the character of Mo, with many saying that he’s their favorite. The original post shared a clip from Yellowstone Season 3 Episode 4, highlighting an exchange between Thomas Rainwater and Mo.

Rainwater says (referring to Angela Blue Thunder): “She’s not evil, Mo. She’s just angry and trying to punish the world for everything it did to her.” To which Mo replies: “Yeah, I know. That’s what evil means.” The post called it a moment of “Mo wisdom”, inspiring other users to come forward and give Mo his flowers.

“Mo is one of the best written characters on the show, if not the best,” one comment said. Another added: “Mo was my favorite. I would probably like a spin off of the reservation storyline more than I liked Yellowstone.”

For those more focused on the Dutton family tree than supporting stars, Mo is Rainwater’s right-hand man and a member of the Tribal Police. He’s a man of few words, but often dispenses valuable advice and clarity to Rainwater.

One thing often forgotten about Mo is is truly tragic backstory. As he tells it, his mother was murdered by men who found her stranded on the side of the road. Mo, a toddler, witnessed the ordeal and was abandoned in the car for three days until he was found.

“Mo is hands down my favorite character of the show. He exudes class, purity, genuineness and silent wisdom,” another fan wrote on a separate thread.

Another said: “He’s been brilliant, just had a presence on screen that’s instantly calming and makes you ‘listen in’.”
