Rick and Michonne in The Walking Dead, holding each other at the CRM baseAMC

While The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is being praised across the board, many fans have a problem with its latest episode and how it leaves a certain new character.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has kept the focus firmly on Rick and Michonne so far, and with good reason. Their separation was one of the driving forces behind the final seasons of the original series. And while the two left the show early, they’ve both returned to find each other and take down the CRM in the newest adventure.

Fans wish Nat didn’t die in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The Walking Dead fans are heading online to express their anger towards The Ones Who Live for killing Nat, a character who appeared in Episode 2 to aid Michonne in her journey to Rick.

Nat was introduced as the inventive survivor of a traveling community, and fans quickly adored his smart-talking ways and ability to create destructive weapons. However, Nat found himself on the receiving end of a bullet at the end of the episode, having been shot by a CRM soldier.

It’s an emotional ending, since he and Michonne quickly grew close over the course of the episode. And it turns out, fans weren’t pleased to see him go in the slightest, dubbing him as one of the “best characters” The Walking Dead has offered in years.

“Nat is the best. Just watched episode 2 and thought Nat was such an interesting character! Matthew August Jeffers did a great job,” a post on The Walking Dead subreddit said. This sparked a wave of agreement from other viewers.

“It made me irrationally angry when he got shot, like he was such an awesome character just to get killed right off the bat,” one user added. Other agreed, writing: “Man that sh*t pissed me off he died.”

“Seriously one of the best characters in the entire show, tbh,” another wrote. “Imagine they took him back to the Commonwealth. He’d be such a huge asset. What a cool ass dude, if not for him, Rick and Michonne never would’ve found each other.”

“He will go down in history as one of the best and the most heroic characters in this universe,” another said.

Although we’ll never know just how far Nat would have gone in the walker-verse had he lived, one thing’s for sure: his impact on Michonne can’t be underestimated. The end of Episode 2 also saw Michonne in the CRM base, looking out menacingly, holding Nat’s lighter. If Michonne does manage to take down the organization, it would be in Nat’s honor.
