The Mandalorian has revealed a key piece of information about the Disney+ show’s most beloved character Baby Yoda – his real name.

The high-profile Star Wars spin-off has proved a hit with viewers, winning back jaded longtime fans of the franchise and introducing a new generation to the galaxy far, far away and its cast of colorful characters.

Without a doubt, one of the biggest reasons for this success is The Child aka Baby Yoda. Aside from all the viral gifs and cute merchandise, the character’s appearance in the show provides a welcome sense of innocence and plenty of comic relief.

Now, in Chapter 13 of the Mandalorian which hit Disney+ on November 27, it’s been revealed that the adorable character has a real name – although it’s not quite as cute as him.

Baby Yoda’s real name is Grogu

Yes, whether you’ve been calling him The Child or Baby Yoda, there’s now no debate about what we should really be calling the young version of the iconic Star Wars character.

His name is Grogu.

The reveal has got a mixed response from fans, with some loving the name and others deciding that they’re going to keep on calling him Baby Yoda, anyway.

As we said, the fans are torn.
