Art the Clown is back, baby — and this time he’s targeting Christmas. Here’s everything we know about the Terrifier 3 release date, cast, plot, and more.
Damien Leone first brought Art the Clown to life in 2008’s The 9th Circle. He then gave him the spotlight in 2011’s Terrifier, a short film following a young woman who witnesses a gruesome murder.
After appearing in All Hallows’ Eve, Leone adapted Terrifier into a feature-length film in 2016, with the clown stalking three young women on Halloween. It’s a trashy horror movie in the best ways, features a jaw-dropping upside-down kill, and whet people’s appetites for more.
Enter, Terrifier 2, a movie responsible for fainting and vomiting across cinemas in the US. Of course, this makes Terrifier 3 one of the biggest horror movies to get excited about in 2024. So, here’s what we know about the new movie so far, including the release date, cast, and plot details.
What’s the Terrifier 3 release date?
Terrifier 3 will be released on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The film was originally scheduled for October 25, 2024. However, in April 2024 that was pushed forward by two weeks in North America.
In June, Variety confirmed Bloody Disgusting and its parent company Cineverse had acquired the North American rights to Terrifier 3. Following a theatrical run, the threequel will be available to stream on Screambox, the horror platform owned by Cineverse.
Filming for Terrifier 3 began back in February 2024. Leone told Deadline back in December 2023: “I’m finally getting to the stage where I’m very excited about it. We’re about to make a movie again, which is my childhood fantasy come true.”
The director previously hinted that a fourth movie could come after Terrifier 3. “I had a Part 3 in mind when writing Part 2,” he said [via Variety].
“There are so many questions brought up in Part 2 that are not answered. That was part of the design because I know I’m going into Part 3. I pretty much have the entire treatment ready for Part 3, but it’s getting so big that it could potentially split into a Part 4 because I wouldn’t want to make another 2-hour 20-minute movie. So we’ll see.”

David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera will both return as Art the Clown and Sienna Shaw in the Terrifier 3 cast.
Here’s the full Terrifer 3 cast announced so far:
- David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown
- Daniel Roebuck as Santa
- Lauren LaVera as Sienna
- Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria
- Elliot Fullam as Jonathan
- Chris Jericho as Burke
The Little Pale Girl has been an ongoing presence throughout the Terrifier series so far, so we’d expect to see Amelie McLain return to play her once again. Though, at the time of writing, this has yet to be confirmed.
What is it about?
Terrifier 3 will see Art the Clown unleash a violent rampage on the sleepy residents of Miles County on Christmas Eve.
The third installment is certainly set to up the ante when it come to Art’s antics. For one, the third film has the biggest budget yet ($2 million), meaning the scale has grown dramatically.
The extreme nature of Terrifier 3 has also been teased by creatives, with Priscilla Smith of The Coven saying [via Deadline]: “There will be a much bigger budget this time around, which is intended to give the filmmakers more creative freedom, and let them be as wild as they can be. And, all jokes aside, we are going for that Oscar this year.”
Of course, this wouldn’t be Terrifier without The Little Pale Girl, and based on comments from Leone, it’s safe to say that we can expect her to pop up in some manner. “There’s something very interesting that’s going to happen with The Pale Girl in Part 3. That’s all I can say right now,” he said [via Variety].
Above all, we know that Terrifier will no doubt have some sort of Christmas-heavy plot, since the film is set at that time, and that Santa Claus will be involved. Whether this means Art will be teaming up with jolly old Saint Nick or going head-to-head with him remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be the first time horror and Christmas have collided on-screen.
