Sesame Street posted about the importance of taking care of one’s mental health after thousands trauma dumped on Elmo through Twitter.

When it comes to spreading positivity, happiness, and all things education, no other TV series can hold a candle to Sesame Street.

Premiering in 1969, Sesame Street used Jim Henson’s Muppet characters to teach all kinds of children life lessons including how to handle death, racism, body image, etc.

One of the biggest things the show has preached is how important it is to take care of your mental health and they reenforced this idea after thousands of Twitter users trauma dumped on Sesame Street cast member Elmo’s page.

Sesame Street preaches mental health after Elmo Twitter dump

A few days ago, Elmo took to his official Twitter account and wrote the question, “Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?” to his 500,000 followers.

After the message was posted, thousands of people began replying to Elmo’s question with some of the most hilarious and unhinged responses.

“Elmo I’m gonna be real I am at my f**king limit,” one Twitter user wrote, while another replied, “B*tches is tired Mo.”

After this overwhelming negative response to Elmo’s sweet message, Sesame Street took it upon themselves to post a message citing multiple mental health resources for those who need it.

“Thank you, @Elmo, for checking in with a reminder for us to pause and take a mindful moment to focus on how we’re feeling,” their official Twitter account wrote, “For #EmotionalWellbeing resources and more, visit @SesameWorkshop: http://sesame.org/mentalhealth.

And the Elmo and Twitter bonding moment wasn’t over just yet as everyone favorite sassy red Muppet had one final message for those struggling right now.

“Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing,” the Muppet wrote on Twitter, “Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you. #EmotionalWellBeing.”

While getting thousands of both series and joking messages of people not doing their very best at the start of the new year was probably not what Elmo thought would happen, this entire interaction highlight why its important to check on those you love and to take a minute to take charge of your mental wellbeing.
