With Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver arriving on Netflix, here’s a breakdown of the major characters in the Rebel Moon cast.

Rebel Moon: Part 2 is about to drop on Netflix. After Part 1’s ending, it’ll catch up with Kora, a “child of fire” escaping the bloodshed of intergalactic war on a distant moon. But the Motherworld’s wrath caught up with her, and she was soon forced to gather the galaxy’s bravest fighters in the fight against the Empire.

While it’s unclear if the franchise will continue beyond this sequel, Zack Snyder has plans: he has two R-rated director’s cuts coming out later this year, and he already has four more films in mind.

The new movie is hours away from its premiere, and you may have forgotten some of the characters introduced in the first chapter — we’ve got you covered.

Sofia Boutella: Kora

Sofia Boutella plays Kora, a mysterious stranger trying to live the quiet life (we’ve played Stardew Valley, we get it). She’s an exceptional warrior with a military past kept hidden until the armies of the Motherworld threaten her village with destruction.

Speaking to Netflix, she said: “There are some aspects about Kora I don’t think I can ever relate to, but others I understand — like leaving your birth land, living in another world, and then having to start fresh and feeling like you don’t belong completely. That’s her journey as well as mine.”

Boutella has a unique and incredibly cool screen presence and has circled blockbusters for years. However, her best roles are in smaller films like the sexy Atomic Blonde or visceral Climax. She has also starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service, was the villain in The Mummy, and appeared in 2024’s Argylle.

Michiel Huisman: Gunnar

Michiel Huisman portrays Gunnar, a talented yet naive farmer who, alongside Kora, is tasked with scouring the galaxy for fighters to assist in defending his home from the invading forces of the Motherworld. He had a cowardly way about him at the start of the story but comes into his own

According to the actor, Rebel Moon was the biggest script he’d ever received. Huisman is best known for his roles in Game of Thrones as Daario Naharis, The Age of Adaline, as well as The Flight Attendant. He also starred as the eldest Crain sibling, Steve, in one of the best TV shows ever, The Haunting of Hill House.

Djimon Hounsou: Titus

Djimon Hounsou in Rebel MoonNetflix

Djimon Hounsou plays Titus, a general who once fought for the regime before turning against it.

Hounsou is a two-time Oscar-nominated actor, having earned plaudits for his performances in Blood Diamond and Amistad, as well as appearing in Gladiator, Guardians of the Galaxy, Furious 7, and the Gran Turismo cast.

Charlie Hunnam: Kai

Charlie Hunnam plays Kai in Part 1, a charming opportunist who agrees to pilot Kora and Gunnar’s Tawau-class freighter on their quest for warriors. Kai’s initial motivation is attraction to Kora, but his character evolves and his true intentions are difficult to parse.

Hunnam, who originally read for a different character, is best known for starring as Jax in Sons of Anarchy for its seven-season run, as well as Guillermo Del Toro’s underrated kaiju movie Pacific Rim, The Gentlemen, and The Lost City of Z.

Staz Nair: Tarak

Staz Nair plays Tarak, the first recruit to join Kora and Gunnar in their fight against the world. Sought out for his obvious physical capability and potential, he’s an essential part of the team.

Nair is another Game of Thrones alumni, having played Qhono in the closing seasons. He’s also appeared in Humans, Krypton, and was one of Kara Danvers’ love interests in The CW’s Supergirl.

Doona Bae: Nemesis

Doona Bae plays Nemesis, a master swordsmith armed with lightsabre-esque weapons. A woman of few words, she’s a quiet but severe warrior, according to Bae. She has a soft heart, however.

Bae has also starred in Barking Dogs Never Bite, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, The Host, and Cloud Atlas. Our favorite of her roles was Sun Bak in the cerebral Netflix series Sense8, though.

Ray Fisher: Darrian Bloodaxe

Ray Fisher plays Darrian Bloodaxe, who leads an army of insurgents alongside his sister.

Darrian is incredibly brave, and alongside his sister inspires a group of rebel fighters to pick up arms with Kora. Fisher’s biggest role was in the DCEU, playing Cyborg. He’s also appeared in True Detective and Women of the Movement.

Cleopatra Coleman: Devra Bloodaxe

Cleopatra Coleman plays Devra Bloodaxe, Darrian’s brother and a fellow leader of the insurgents — all of whom are hunted by the Motherworld for treason and insurrection.

While they’re co-leaders, Devra is the one really in charge. She’s the brains, and he’s the brawn according to Coleman. Devra doesn’t make a move without considering every angle.

Coleman has also starred in Infinity Pool, The Last Man on Earth, White Famous, and Dopesick.

E. Duffy: Millius

E. Duffy as MilliusNetflix

E. Duffy plays Millius, a Bloodaxe soldier who joins Kora and Gunnar’s team. She believes that there is right and wrong and that finding it gives you purpose. So, she’s a highly motivated fighter led by her heart.

Rebel Moon marks Duffy’s first movie role, having racked up credits in five shorts previously, including Acid Noir and Sleepyhead.

Anthony Hopkins: Jimmy

Anthony Hopkins plays Jimmy, an ancient android soldier whose sole purpose was protecting the king. Reactivated under the Imperium’s rule, he has had no reason to fight — until now.

Hopkins is an Oscar-winning legend, known for his performances in Silence of the Lambs, The Father, Westworld, and the MCU as Odin.

Ed Skrein: Atticus Noble

Ed Skrein plays Atticus Noble, a brutal Motherworld admiral tasked with quashing insurgencies around the known galaxy.

Skrein enjoyed playing the character so much that he’s concerned he’ll struggle to find satisfaction with another antagonist.

Skrein took over from Huisman as Daario in Game of Thrones Season 3. He also starred in Deadpool, The Transporter: Refueled, Alita: Battle Angel, and All the Light We Cannot See.

Fra Fee: Regent Balisarius

Fra Fee plays Regent Balisarius, the self-appointed ruler of the Imperium. We’re not going to get into too many details about his character to avoid spoilers if you’ve not seen the film yet, but he is the overarching villain of Rebel Moon.

Fee has also starred in Les Misérables, Animals, and the Marvel series Hawkeye.

Corey Stoll: Sindri

Corey Stoll plays Cindri, the chief of the village on Veldt intent on protecting his people and staying under the radar out of necessity.

Stoll is known for his role as Darren Cross in the MCU, as well as appearing in First Man, House of Cards, and Billions.

Jena Malone: Harmada

Jena Malone plays Harmada, an enormous half-woman, half-spider who lurks in the depths of Daggus.

Malone has worked with Snyder multiple times, being Rocket in Sucker Punch, having a minor role in Batman V Superman, as well as appearing in The Hunger Games movies and The Neon Demon.
