5 new K-dramas to watch in June

June promises a new month of must-watch K-dramas from teens in a cutthroat school and secrets to a political battle for power.

We have already gotten our fair share of hits in 2024, from Marry My Husband to smashing hits like tvN’s Lovely Runner. But now we are gearing up for June to bring some of the most anticipated dramas that have been in the works for months.

May had its great K-dramas that fans were in a frenzy over like the romance in The Atypical Family. Not to mention, the controversial The 8 Show. It’s time for May to show us what it’s got.

There are more than a few K-dramas to keep tabs on from Netflix and other popular streaming platforms.

Hierarchy

Release Date: June 7, 2024

The world of an elite Korean high school begins to crumble when a new scholarship student arrives. The official trailer for the K-drama opens with “I killed someone,” and sets the tone for what fans can expect from the Netflix K-drama.

Jooshin High School is elite and only selected few can attend from the top 1%. It’s meant to mimic the cutthroat real world, with Jung Jae-i and her boyfriend Kim Ri-an known as the queen and king of the school.

But the foundations of the school begin to crack at the arrival of King Ha, a new student with a vendetta whose presence begins to change the dynamics.

My Sweet Mobster

Release Date: June 12, 2024

My Sweet Mobster is a sweet tale of redemption and childhood love. Seon Ji-hwan is a former gangster who wants to leave it all behind. In his efforts to turn over a new leaf, he goes across the country to dismantle criminal organizations and help ex-convicts.

He remeets Eun Ha, his childhood friend who’s now a children’s content creator. She always remembered Ji-hwan as her protector and bodygaurd during their youth. Her bright spirit becomes a beacon of hope for Ji-hwan to become a new person.

Miss Night and Day

Release Date: June 15, 2024

Lee Mi-jin is in her 20s and has a hard time finding a steady job. She earns multiple certificates while getting ready to take one on, but something bizarre happens. One morning, she wakes up in the body of a 50-year-old woman but returns her original self at night.

Instead of seeing it as a burden, its becomes an opportunity. Mi-jin goes by the name Im Soon by day and becomes an intern at Seohan District Public Prosecutors’ Office. She begins to work for Prosecutor Kye Ji-woong whose life is his work.

With a majority of his interns quitting due to his strict demeanor, he hires Im Soon. In a twist, he becomes invovled with Mi-jin at night.

Scandal

Jung-in is a woman who stops at nothing for what she wants. She married Dr. Baek Dong-ho for his money to only leave him and take everything to become a succesful businesswoman running an entertainment company.

One day, she meets Seo Jin-ho, an aspiring actor who looks like her first love. He also happens to be Baek Seol-ah’s fiancée. Seol-ah is Dr.Baek’s daughter from his first marriage but grew up in an orphanage due to Jung-in marrying her father.

The predicaments of Seol-ah’s life are all due to Jung-in, and it happens once again when they cross paths.

The Whirlwind

Release Date: June 28, 2024

When the President is suddenly killed, it creates a political battle for power. Park Dong-ho is South Korea’s prime minister who planned to have the president killed. Why? He wants to teach him a lesson for colluding with the countries elites and chaebols for political favor.

Hoping to change the world of politics, he’s confronted by deputy prime minister for economic affairs Jung Soo-in. A fierce political strife ensues.
