Despite saying that she was leaving the Scream franchise, OG star Neve Campbell has revealed what it would take to get her back in the films.
When any horror movie fan thinks of the Scream franchise, it’s very rare that they don’t immediately think of Neve Campbell, aka Sydney Prescott, the star of the original Scream film.
Campbell has starred in the first five movies in the Scream franchise as the ultimate final girl as she survived several massacres.
However, Campbell left the franchise due to disputes with production, but it seems like horror’s favorite It Girl may return to her roots for the right reasons.
Campbell would return to Scream on her own terms
While chatting with Variety at the BAFTA Tea event, Campbell revealed that she would return to the Scream franchise “under the right circumstances.”
This comes as a shock to most Scream fans as Campbell famously declined being a part of Scream 6 and 7 due to a compensation dispute with the production company, as Campbell felt she wasn’t being paid her fair share for playing the iconic character.

Though she hasn’t been completely written out of the franchise, most Scream fans wouldn’t expect to see Campbell step back into the role, but it would be a nice surprise.
However, Campbell’s involvement in the franchise may not be enough to save it from controversy, as the Scream movies have been under scrutiny over the last several months.
Their newest star Melissa Barrera was fired from her role on Scream 7 due to her outspoken support for Palestinian people during the ongoing conflict, and Jenna Ortega also exited the project, citing scheduling conflicts due to filming Wednesday Season 2.
Campbell has not been officially asked to return to the franchise after all of this, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the studio ask her to come back in order to save their latest entry in the franchise.
