My Life with the Walter Boys was a hit on Netflix last year, so you might be wondering: will there be a Season 2? Here’s everything we know.
Netflix has established itself in the teen drama genre, from supernatural sagas such as School Spirits to coming-of-age shows like High Tides.
A new show entered the chat: My Life with the Walter Boys, which bears similarities to Prime Video hit The Summer I Turned Pretty – not only is it also based on a book, but the narrative features a prominent love triangle.
Since arriving on the streamer last year, the series quickly nabbed the number one spot on Netflix’s Top 10 chart during its release – but will there be a Season 2?
Season 2 release date
My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet – but it will be dropping at some point in 2025.
Netflix announced the binge-worthy TV show had been renewed for a second season on December 19, 2023, which was only 12 days after the initial season first aired.
Series creator Melanie Halsall told Tudum “I am beyond thrilled that My Life With the Walter Boys has been renewed for a second season. We have been overwhelmed by the love and support that the audience has given the show and can’t wait to dive back into the world of Silver Falls and the lives of these characters.”
The streaming service also released a behind-the-scenes clip of Halsall telling the cast the good news while they were all together.
We’ll be sure to update this section as soon as an official release date is announced,

“Jackie’s going through a lot and she has really big dreams and goals, and so I really hope for Jackie that she doesn’t get too off track and doesn’t get too distracted and just remember what she really wants,” Halsall told Deadline. “Ultimately, no one’s gonna look out for you the way that you would. So I think… her choosing herself is really important for people to see, and I kind of applaud Jackie for it to be honest.”
New recruits are joining My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2. While we don’t know their roles yet, Natalie Sharp, Carson MacCormac, Janet Kidder, Riele Downs, and Jake Manley will all be making appearances.
Melanie Halsall will be back driving the ship, with Ed Glauser on hand as executive producer. Jason Priestly will return to direct “several” of the season’s episodes.
What will it be about?
We’re not sure yet, but we do know this – the second book in the series, ‘My Return to the Walter Boys,’ won’t serve as the basis of Season 2.
Fans will remember the first season used the novel of the same name as a springboard, but ended up taking a different direction. In the season finale, we saw Jackie boards a flight to New York to go back and live there with her Uncle Richard. But in the books, her return is much more of a sure thing.
This is likely because Halsall has imagined a multi-season run from the very beginning.
“When you’re making a television series that you want to be returning, you have to make changes from a novel. I wanted to surprise the audience. I wanted to give the audience something a little bit different than they were expecting from the book,” she told Deadline.
“I wanted to leave it open-ended what Jackie was going to do and what boy she was gonna end up with. I’ve often said that maybe Jackie won’t end up with a boy but she’ll end up on her own. Maybe that’s still the case. It was a deliberate decision to make that change, and I think it was organic to the story.”
