The visual finesse of the series is also shown off, with Prime Video promising an even larger scale than in Season 1.

Plot

Season 2 is about Sauron’s return, as he rebuilds his strength and oversees the forging of the Rings of Power.

Season 1 ended with the three elven rings being formed and Sauron revealed.

Because we saw Mordor created with an explosive volcanic eruption in Episode 6, we expect Mount Doom to play a part in the second season. Plus, the Balrog lurking in the Dwarven mines is likely going to be a big problem.

Prime Video’s synopsis reads, “Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.
