Disney is making a live-action remake of the classic animated movie Lilo & Stitch – this is everything we know about the new version of the story, including updated news on the voice cast.
The Disney remakes show no sign of slowing down. We’ve already had live-action iterations of Cinderella, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Dumbo, and Mulan.
2023 was the year of The Little Mermaid, with Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, and Javier Bardem starring. While Dwayne Johnson recently announced a live-action Moana movie, which even had fans of the movie screaming “too soon.”
But that won’t stop the Mouse House when there’s money to be made, and so there’s also a new Lilo & Stitch planned. This is everything we know about the forthcoming film, including cast and plot.

The footage is brief but showcases Stitch getting up to all sorts of mischief, the lovable little creature doing its best to knock down as many sand castles as possible.
On December 18, Disney dropped a second teaser trailer for the upcoming film, this one similarly promoting the silliness and humor of the character.
The footage begins with a Lion King-style spoof and the phrase, “long live the King” before cutting to a shot of Stitch being held up in a similar way to Simba.
Lilo & Stitch plot – What’s it about?
The official synopsis for Lilo & Stitch from Disney itself reads as the following:
“A live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, Lilo & Stitch is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.”
In the animated series, Lilo struggles to find her place in the world after losing her parents. And while her big sister Nani steps up as the adult figure in her life, the two fight and cannot always see eye to eye.
Stitch’s arrival on Earth changes the course of Lilo’s life forever, so expect this live-action film to include some laughs as well as some heartful moments too.
