When we think of funny, we think of Sandler. In Leo, he ventured once more into animated movies.
The kids film explored a 74-year-old lizard and his turtle friend deciding to escape from the terrarium of a Florida school classroom where they had been living for decades.
With the movie now available to stream on Netflix, here’s everything you need to know about the Leo cast.

Leo: Adam Sandler
Leo is a jaded older lizard who’s been stuck in the same Florida classroom for longer than he can remember. He’s watched generations of students come and go and feels like he’s missed out on life.
Adam Sandler is best known for comedy hits including Grown Ups and Just Go With It, alongside dramatic performances such as Uncut Gems. While he’s most recognized for his comedic chops, real ones know he’s just as good at pulling miracles out of his sleeve.
Squirtle: Bill Burr
Squirtle is the classroom turtle who lives alongside Leo. A keen observer of his class, Squirtle is a bit of a grump. Squirtle is the classroom turtle. He does get a bit envious of how much the kids love Leo, but he’ll also do anything for his friend.
Old Dads, F Is for Family, and Breaking Bad are included among Bill Burr’s acting credits. The actor and comedian was more recently in The Mandalorian Season 3.
Ms. Malkin: Cecily Strong
Ms. Malkin is a harsh substitute teacher. The kids worry she will ruin their last year of elementary school, but Leo reminds her who she is. She starts the school year with discipline in mind, but Leo helps her remember why she began teaching in the first place.
Cecily Strong was a long-running Saturday Night Live cast member and is a scene-stealer if there ever was one. She graduated to film in 2016’s Ghostbusters and was the female lead of the Apple TV series Schmigadoon!
Jayda’s Dad: Jason Alexander
Jayda’s dad is a renowned dermatologist who uses his fame to push around the school’s principal.
Jason Alexander’s previous roles include his famous stint as George Costanza on Seinfeld, voice-work as Sy Borgman in The Harley Quinn Animated Series, and The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel.
The Principal: Rob Schneider
The Principal is a slightly naive figurehead who is prone to being bullied a bit by some of the more aggressive parents.
Real Rob, Hubie Halloween, and Home Team are included in Rob Schneider’s previous acting credits, and he’s a good friend of Sandler’s, working with him many times before on the likes of Grown Ups.
Mrs. Salinas: Allison Strong
Mrs Salinas is a fifth-grade teacher in the Leo cast known for her gentle kindness in her classroom.
You might have previously seen Allison Strong in The Marvellous Mrs Maisel or The Blacklist.
Coach Komura: Jo Koy
Coach Komura is a harmless but not very smart gym teacher in the Leo cast.

Jayda: Sadie Sandler
As the popular girl in school, Jayda feels like she has to over-compensate. Leo helps her relate more with her peers. She carries a huge amount of pressure, hoping to live up to other people’s standards, but Leo reminds her that she’s just a person.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah and Hubie Halloween are both included in Sadie Sandler’s previous credits. And, as you might have guessed, she’s Adam Sandler’s daughter.
Summer: Sunny Sandler
Summer is the talkative eldest child of her family who brings Leo home for a weekend. He helps her remember that her peers want to be heard as much as she does.
Like Sadie, Sunny has also been in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, and Hubie Halloween, alongside Home Team. This is a family event!
Eli’s Mom: Heidi Gardner
Known for being a helicopter parent, Eli’s Mom monitors him at all times with a literal drone but is well-meaning. It does isolate him from his classmates though, meaning she has some growth to go through herself in the movie.
Alongside starring in the Leo cast, Heidi Gardner has been in Saturday Night Live, Shrinking, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Hustle. Now that’s a lineup.
Minature Horse: Robert Smigel
Miniature Horse is at Jayda’s birthday party when Leo meets him and is also going through a similar life crisis: he too wants to be set free so he can see the world.
Saturday Night Live, Bob’s Burgers, and Marriage Story are shows that Robert Smigel has previously starred in. He worked with Sandler before on the 2008 film You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.
Cinnabon: Nick Swardson
Cinnabon is another class pet at Fort Myers Elementary that is renamed by students every year. He’s called Cinnabon this year, which could not be any cuter.
Nick Swardson has previously been in the comedy shows Reno 911! and Hoops. He worked with Sandler on the movies Just Go with It and Jack and Jill.
Jayda’s Mom: Jackie Sandler
Jayda’s mom is a proponent of pilates workouts and frequently boosts her husband’s ego in Leo, much to Jayda’s discontent. A fashion icon, if we say so ourselves.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Murder Mystery, and Kevin Can Wait are all included in Jackie Sandler’s previous credits. Leo couldn’t leave out Adam Sandler’s real-life wife, now could it?
Skyler’s Mom: Stephanie Hsu
Oblivious to Leo’s powers, Skyler’s Mom is another parent in the cast. Her daughter forms a bond with Leo, like lots of kids in the film.
Stephanie Hsu had her breakout role in A24’s masterpiece Everything Everywhere All at Once. She has also appeared in The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, Joy Ride, and The Monkey King.
