There’s more dinosaur action coming from one of the greatest film sagas around, as Jurassic World 4 takes shape.
The original Jurassic Park is undoubtedly one of the very best movies ever made. Its direct sequels, not so much, though they do have their charms.
Then, there’s the sequel trilogy set in Jurassic World. The Chris Pratt-led stories just didn’t quite capture the magic of the first film, and ended on a whimper with Dominion.
So, a new movie sounds like a good idea then, right? With the cast involved, we actually do have high hopes for Jurassic World 4, so here’s what we know.
Jurassic World Rebirth release date
Jurassic World 4, titled Jurassic World Rebirth, will arrive on July 2, 2025.
That’s a fairly ambitious plan. Making movies about dinosaurs is not exactly a small task, with all the post-production and CGI involved.
Thankfully, it was confirmed by producer Frank Marshall on September 28, 2024 that production had wrapped. Fingers crossed that release date doesn’t shift!
Who’s in the cast?
Jurassic World has some mega star power heading its way, with Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali leading the cast as Zora and Duncan.
Here’s the cast list so far:
- Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett
- Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid
- Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis
- Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs
- Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado
- Luna Blaise
- David Iacono
- Audrina Miranda
- Philippine Velge
- Bechir Sylvain
- Ed Skrein
In August 2024, fans were given a little more detail about the characters in the newest movie, all kicking off with Johansson as Zora Bennett, an operative who’s been hired to lead a team to extract DNA from the three remaining dinosaur species.
Her partner, played by Ali, is Duncan, while Bailey’s Henry Loomis joins them on their quest as a paleontologist. Universal also released the first-look images at the new cast, giving fans a hint of what to expect. (Most notably, Ali looking pretty scared!)

Gareth Edwards will helm the project. Edwards previously directed the first Godzilla movie in the MonsterVerse back in 2014, and added Rogue One to the Star Wars timeline, too.
As for casting rumors, Baby Reindeer star and creator Richard Gadd is reportedly set for a role in Jurassic World 4. Meanwhile, Dev Patel has also been mooted as a possible cast member, but nothing is confirmed.
Jurassic World 4 plot
Jurassic World Rebirth will take place five years after the events of Dominion, where dinosaurs have suffered under the inhospitable conditions of the modern world.
The official synopsis explains: “Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
So, dinosaurs are dwindling, and Zara and her team are sent in to extract DNA that might prove useful to the future of humanity. We’re going to guess that they won’t be able to tame those beasts quite as easily as they thought…cue chaos and bloodshed.
After the team find a family who’ve survived a boat expedition that was “capsized by marauding aquatic dinos,” everyone on the mission becomes “stranded on an island where they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that’s been hidden from the world for decades.”
Based on what we’ve seen in these movies before, it’s very likely that this “shocking discovery” might be a previously unknown species of dinosaur that’s ready to rip up some humans.
Is there a trailer?
Sadly, there’s no trailer or footage for Jurassic World Rebirth yet, since production has only just wrapped.
But if that 2025 release date sticks, then there should be some first looks coming in the early months of next year, or around Christmas 2024.
Details for Jurassic World 4 should come through fairly regularly within the next year. Until then, get more monster action with our guide to the next Godzilla movie, or learn about the Game of Thrones dragons. Don’t miss all the best movies of 2024 so far, too!
