House of the Dragon is back after a long break, so you may need a refresher on a few things. First of all, who are Daemon and Rhaenyra’s children?
It’s been quite a journey for the unlikely couple, and there’s so much more to come in House of the Dragon Season 2.
With the Dance of the Dragons underway, and squabbling over who will be the next Targaryen king (or queen) the focus of the story, finer details can go under the radar.
So, between House of the Dragon Season 1 and the new episodes, here’s what we know about Daemon and Rhaenyra’s children. Warning, some spoilers ahead!
Daemon and Rhaenyra’s children, explained
Daemon and Rhaenyra share two children together: Aegon III and Viserys II.
They were first seen in Season 1 Episode 8, with both children still infants at this point in the story. We won’t go into too many details about their future, but let’s say this: they will play a major role as the Dance of the Dragons draws to a close in future seasons of House of the Dragon.
We also saw that Rhaenyra is once again pregnant, with her and Daemon’s third child on the way. This comes to the fore in Episode 10, but this is your last spoiler warning.

In Season 1 Episode 10, Rhaenyra goes into labor after Rhaenys informs her of Viserys’ death and Aegon II being crowned king in her absence, despite Viserys naming her heir.
There comes the final blow: Rhaenyra’s baby daughter – whom they’d named Visenya, according to George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood – is stillborn after a brutal, bloody labor.
This is similar to the House of the Dragon book, where the baby also has dragon-like birth defects, including a hole in her chest and a small tail.
“She was my only daughter, and they killed her. They stole my crown and murdered my daughter, and they shall answer for it,” Rhaenyra says in the book.
Outside of this relationship, Rhaenyra Targaryen has three other children from her first marriage to Laenor Velaryon. However, their paternity is questionable, to say the least.
