That’s right, Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz voices Vaggie. It all makes sense now. The actor gained fame for masking her real voice while playing detective Rosa Diaz in the police procedural comedy. Her on-screen character was known as a badass, wore leather, could take down anyone, and had a distinguishable “don’t mess with me” voice.

Fans were stunned to learn that in real life her voice is higher in pitch and didn’t resemble Rosa at all. For Hazbin Hotel, the actor uses a mix of tones to get Vaggie right. When needing to be firm with some of the unruly guests, she uses her more distinguishable Rosa voice. It’s one of the reasons why Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans would have become interested after hearing the character talk.

Seeing as the animated series is also a musical, Beatriz puts her vocals to the test. At the end of Episode 3, Vaggie belts out into song and fans hear a more whimsical vocal range. It sounds like a Disney princess with an added edge.
