Alexa and Katie ran on Netflix for four seasons, coming to an end in 2020 — but was it cancelled? Here’s what you need to know.

Alexa and Katie joined Netflix in 2018 and ran across four seasons until it ended in 2020. Following two teenage girls who have to help each other through a cancer diagnosis, the series blended the typical teen sitcom with an emotional tale of enduring friendship.

Not much information on the show’s journey exists, so fans may be wondering if Alexa and Katie was another victim of Netflix cuts, or whether it just ended as intended. Here’s what we know about whether Alex and Katie was cancelled.

Was Alexa and Katie cancelled by Netflix?

Netflix didn’t cancel Alex and Katie — the show simply ran its course and ended with its fourth season in 2020.

Despite a positive reception and winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program, Alex and Katie didn’t run for all that long. Instead, it finished with only four seasons under its belt.

The show came to an end when the narrative suited, with Alex and Kate both graduating from high school. The best friends part ways to go to college, and the story reaches its natural conclusion from there.

The series (which starred Paris Berelc and 1883’s Isabel May) is still available to stream on Netflix. However, we wouldn’t advise waiting on another installment of the teen drama, since things have long since been wrapped up. That said, if you’re looking for more Alexa and Katie in your life, you can find out how to watch Run Hide Fight, and see if there’s any news on 1883 Season 2.
