Bridgerton filming locations — Palaces and mansions from the period drama

Penelope and Francesca in Bridgerton Season 3.Netflix

The Bridgerton filming locations whisk us back to a Regency era with plenty of romantic glaze and historical inaccuracies to (thankfully) make the period rosier.

The Netflix series has a high production value — we’d certainly hope so, given how long we waited for Bridgerton Season 3 — and immersion hinges on the story’s environment.

While the show hasn’t gone to extremes to incorporate period-accurate costumes, makeup, and hair (this is whimsy, after all), the backdrop is seamless.

Now that we’ve binged our way through the steamy Bridgerton Season 3 mirror scene and the major change to Francesca’s love story, we’re diving into where they film Bridgerton.

Where do they film Bridgerton?

Bridgerton is filmed in England. It’s shot on a soundstage but also uses locations in Bath, Surrey, and London.

The story takes place in a fictional version of London high society, with occasional trips elsewhere.

In reality, manors, building exteriors, and interiors scattered across England help create the façade of manors and ballrooms.

Most interior filming takes place on a soundstage (sorry), but there are still plenty of places to visit you’ll recognize from the exterior and establishing shots in the show.

The Bridgerton family home

Location: Ranger’s House in Greenwich and Halton House in Buckinghamshire.

The outside of the Bridgerton siblings’ home is Ranger’s House, near Greenwich Park. The art gallery in Blackheath is a Georgian red-brick mansion, and home to the Wernher Collection of Art.

As for the understated blues of the interior, shots including the spiral staircase and grand hall were filmed in Halton House in Buckinghamshire.

The Featherington house

Locations: Royal Crescent in Bath, Basildon Park in Reading, and Hatfield House in Hertfordshire.

Travel to Bath and spend less than half an hour walking and you can arrive at Royal Crescent, an intimidating display of gorgeous architecture that screams money. The building is the Featherington home’s exterior in the show.

As for their green gardens, Reading’s Basildon Park brought them to life.

If you’re more interested in the subtle yellows and limes inside their home, you’ll want to visit Hatfield House in Hertfordshire instead. The country house has been standing since 1611.

Buckingham Palace and St James Palace

Locations: Hampton Court Palace in East Moseley and Lancaster House in Westminster.

Queen Charlotte’s palaces during Anthony and Edwina Sharma’s wedding took the Bridgerton cast to Hampton Court Palace (this is a set we wouldn’t mind working on).

This walkable site is home to 60 acres of magnificent gardens.

The Queen’s parlor, drawing room, and jewelry room were shot in Lancaster House. It’s a London mansion steeped in history, with prestigious marble and a magnificent long gallery.

Fittingly, Lancaster House is not far from the real-life Buckingham Palace. The house was also used in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The King’s Speech, and The Crown.

Lady Danbury’s mansion

Locations: Holburne Museum of Art in Bath, Badminton House in Gloucestershire, and Wilton House in Salisbury.

Originally built as the Sydney Hotel, it provided the Sydney Pleasure Gardens, where crowds gathered to promenade.

The real Queen Charlotte stayed opposite the hotel on Sydney Place when she visited Bath in 1817. The hotel was converted into a museum in 1916.

Inside, where the Hastings and Sharmas were hosted in seasons 1 and 2, were filmed at Badminton House in Gloucestershire and Salisbury’s Wilton House.

A trip round the Bridgerton filming locations is luckily doable in a short time because they’re all in England. Most are official local attractions, so they can be toured, too.
