Avatar: The Last Airbender divided fans when it dropped on Netflix, but they still want more. Here’s everything we know about Season 2 so far.
The Aang gang is officially back, but not as you’ve ever seen them before. Netflix has brought the fan-favorite trio to life – for the first time, if you overlook the 2010 movie – with eight all-new episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The story follows a young boy known as the Avatar, who must master the four elemental powers to save a world at war and fight a ruthless enemy bent on stopping him.
Now that the show is officially available to stream here’s everything to know so far about Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2.
Will there be a Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender?

It goes without saying that there’s a lot of ground from the original story still to cover. Most of Book 1 has been included, with some elements of Book 2 unexpectedly lumped in.
As the original series ran for three seasons, it does make sense that we’ll see more of Aang’s story – particularly following the renewal of Netflix’s other anime adaptation, One Piece.
According to Production Weekly, filming for Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender is now up and running.
It’s currently unclear how many episodes there will be in the new series, or when it will be released.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 – who’s in it?
No cast list has been confirmed for Season 2 yet, but judging by the Season 1 finale, we can expect names like Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, and Ian Ousley to return.

While characters such as Toph are now confirmed to be included in future episodes, it’s not yet been revealed who will play them.

With Toph in particular, Netflix announced an open casting call in June 2024.
What will happen in Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2?
There is currently no confirmed plan for Season 2 other than Toph with executive producer Jabbar Raisani telling Dexerto he was focused on introducing Toph to the story before Season 1 dropped.
In an interview with Dexerto, executive producer Jabbar Raisani revealed one element that he would love to include in future episodes. “Toph would be my number one. I can’t wait to find who that person is that’s going to embody that character, because she’s so awesome,” he said.
Avatar: The Last Airbender cast members agreed with this, with Uncle Iroh actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee adding: “We were just talking about the fact that between Iroh and Ozai there’s a little bit of intrigue there. Iroh was supposed to be the next in line for the throne, and after he loses, he steps back and allows Ozai to take over the throne. We thought that’d be really interesting as an adaptation, it would be something worth exploring.
“It would be really cool to explore the different styles of parenting,” they continued. “Ozai is very hard, old school. Feels Zuko needs to learn his lesson. Whereas Iroh is more nurturing, giving, compassionate. Lets him make the right choices. It’s an interesting dynamic as siblings that the two of them have, and you don’t see that explored in the animated series at all.”
Showrunner Albert Kim recently hinted at Season 2 during an interview with EW, explaining: “All three seasons of the animated series essentially take place in the course of one calendar year.
“There was no way we could do that. So we had to design this first season, especially, to accommodate the possibility of some time elapsing between the first and the second season.”
Is there a trailer for Season 2?
At present, there is no trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender, but we’ll keep this page updated when that changes.
