The son of disgraced YouTube mom Ruby Franke was caught smiling in a now-deleted TikTok video, celebrating his mother’s prison sentence over child abuse charges.
In February 2024, Ruby Franke was sentenced up to 30 years in prison on four felony counts of aggravated child abuse.
Franke was arrested in 2023 on suspicion of those same charges after two of her children were found “malnourished” with “open wounds.”
Franke and her husband, Kevin, were known for their family YouTube channel ‘8 Passengers,’ which was deleted in 2020 after the parents came under fire for the shocking punishments they doled out to their children.
Franke gave a tearful apology during her sentencing, saying she was “humbled and willing to serve a prison sentence for as long as I need.”
Netizens celebrated Franke’s sentencing across social media — but it looks like they aren’t the only ones happy about the result.

In the clip, Chad’s girlfriend dances over a caption that reads, “You’d love my mom.” The camera then pans over to show Chad, who also dances alongside another caption that says, “My mom’s in prison.”
At the time of writing, the girlfriend’s TikTok profile cannot be reached, and it seems to have been deactivated or privated. However, the clip has since been reposted multiple times online, with commenters expressing relief that Ruby is now in jail.
“He probably feels safe for the first time in his life,” one viewer wrote.
“He is justifiably hurt,” another said. “It must have felt empowering to make this. Wishing Chad and his siblings healing from severe trauma.”
“I gotta give it to him for trying to make light of what’s happening in his life,” yet another remarked.
