Tecno’s Pocket Go has been officially unveiled, and it blends the power of gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck with AR glasses, and it might be one of the coolest devices announced this year so far.

Gaming handhelds are a dime a dozen these days, with manufacturers like Lenovo, MSI, and Ayaneo putting out every flavor of handheld under the sun on a fairly regular basis. These Steam Deck alternatives offer more power than Valve’s offering, with certain twists, like a sliding screen with a keyboard, or even two displays.

But, Tecno is going one step further by blending two product categories into one. The Tecno Pocket Go is essentially a wireless controller, in addition to a pair of “Pocket Vision” AR glasses. But, housed within the controller itself is a fully-fledged Windows PC.

The Pocket Vision glasses come equipped with support for smartphones, in addition to 6DOF tracking. This allows the handheld to essentially come equipped with a gigantic 215-inch screen that you wear on your head.

We’ve previously tested the TCL RayNeo Air 2 glasses alongside the Ayaneo Air, and the experience was fantastic for AR gaming, so it makes sense that a company would want to capitalize and blend these two distinct product categories into a single device.

Sadly, Tecno has not yet announced any pricing information, nor a release date for the upcoming handheld AR glasses combo, so we’ll just have to wait for more details. But, if initial impressions are anything to go by, Tecno is really making its mark with this new and unique handheld.
