The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is official. We’ve gathered everything you need to know about the device, including its specifications, price, and where to buy it.

The Galaxy Z Flip series brought back the clamshell-style foldable phones. Samsung launched the Z Flip phones alongside the Z Fold phones, and while the book-style foldable has its place, many prefer the flip phones for their compact size.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 came out with several key improvements. The small screen on the front is larger, with extra features in tow. The hinge design is improved, and Samsung added a brand-new processor for better performance.

Design & display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 got a design refresh, with a bigger cover screen that can now be used for most things you’d normally do on the main screen. Samsung also swapped in a new hinge called the Flex hinge, which promises a smoother folding experience.

However, the Z Flip 6 did not receive many design changes. It still has the same basic shape, with a 6.7-inch folding main screen, which now uses an LTPO panel. The panel can go from 1-120Hz refresh rate and keeps the same FHD+ resolution.

The cover screen (or the Flex display) is the same size and resolution as before, 3.4 inches at 720 x 748px. It still runs at 60Hz, but can reach 1,600 nits in high brightness mode.

Samsung has tweaked the hinge on the Z Flip, making the phone slimmer. The Galaxy Z Flip6 measures 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9 mm when closed and 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm when opened, weighing in at 187 g. For comparison, the Z Flip5 was 15.1 mm thick when closed but still 6.9 mm when opened.

Specifications

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 starts with 12GB RAM, getting rid of the 8GB RAM variant that was available with Z Flip 5. Storage options will remain the same as last year at 256GB and 512GB.

Samsung has also packed a larger 4000mAh battery on the Z Flip 6. Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 features 971mAh and 2620mAh batteries, which equals 3591mAh (advertised as 3700mAh).

The smartphone’s charging speed remains the same at 25W over a wire and 15W wirelessly. The flip phone runs Android 14 on the software front, but will receive seven years of major Android updates, starting with Android 15 x One UI 7.

Samsung has equipped the Z Flip 6 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip— the same as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. We tested the chip on multiple phones, including the OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12, and were impressed with its performance.

The 8 Gen 3 can run even the most demanding applications without lagging or heating. We were able to play titles like Genshin Impact without any issues. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 might offer a similar performance.

Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s cameras have gotten a big upgrade. The Z Flip 5 uses a dual camera system with a 12MP main shooter and a 12MP ultrawide. While the Z Flip 6 retains the same ultrawide camera, the main camera has been upgraded with a 50MP sensor.

That’s a huge upgrade, and it should put the Z Flip 6’s main sensor on the same level as the Z Fold 5. The selfie camera remains the same at 10MP.

Should you buy the Galaxy Z Flip 6?

You should consider buying the Galaxy Z Flip 6 if you’re using one of the older foldables or are newly switching to flip phones. You’ll benefit from the phone’s new processor, and since you’ll be purchasing a new device, you’ll receive longer software support.

Similar to the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung also offers the flip phone with seven years of major Android updates— which is another reason to get the phone. However, if you’re currently a Z Flip 5 user, sticking with your phone for another year is a wise choice.
