The Samsung Galaxy Ring is priced at $399 and has no monthly subscription. At this price, the Galaxy Ring is priced significantly higher than the competition products like the Oura Ring or Ultra Human Ring Air.

Features and specs

The Galaxy Ring comes in Gold, Silver, and Black color options and weighs between 2.3 grams and 3 grams, depending on what size you buy. These titanium rings are water resistant up to 10 ATM and are also IP68 rated.

Measuring 2.6mm and 7mm wide, the Galaxy Ring is slightly slimmer than the Oura Ring. The Galaxy Ring is available in 9 size options – five to 13.

It has built-in sensors to track your sleep patterns, heart rate, and respiratory rate. It can also monitor your movements and track skin temperature changes throughout the night. The Ring can offer alerts for heart rate anomalies and can automatically detect walks or workouts. It can motivate you to move around if you’ve been sedentary for a while.

Samsung says that the Ring packs an accelerometer, PPG/heart rate, and skin temperature sensor that feeds data to the Samsung Health app. With Galaxy AI’s help, the app offers an Energy Score based on your workout schedule, sleeping pattern, and other data. So, if you’ve had a decent physical workout during the day but had restless sleep, your score would be low for the next day.

The Galaxy Health app also suggests ways to increase the score, thus motivating you to get enough rest and recharge to feel better.

This score is similar to what Oura offers with its smart rings. Though Oura calls it a Readiness Score, it is also calculated based on your movements throughout the day, sleeping pattern, body temperature, and heart rate.

The Galaxy Ring also has gesture controls that let you remotely control your Galaxy-branded smartphone. A double-pinch gesture using your fingers allows you to trigger the camera shutter or simple action triggers on your phone. Though the Galaxy Ring has limited gesture controls, it presents a great use case once Samsung introduces its VR/XR headset.

The Ring has a 16mAh battery, offering up to 7 days of backup on a single charge. It can be charged using a transparent charging case, which, like an earbuds case, comes with an inbuilt 361 mAh battery to charge the Galaxy Ring while on the go.

Though, unlike the Oura Ring, the Galaxy Ring is designed to work best with other Samsung products, thus limiting you to their ecosystem.
