iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could get two new features that were already present on the iPhone 15 Pro models.
Apple creates distinctions among its smartphones. The iPhone “Pro” models come with exclusive features like advanced chips, extra RAM, and faster Wi-Fi tech that you won’t find on the standard or Plus iPhones. Yet, it seems that Apple is looking into bringing the latter two features to the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.
According to an industry analyst, the upcoming iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will finally come with increased RAM and faster Wi-Fi 6E technology. More RAM would mean you would be able to multitask between heavier apps, and smooth over performance issues. It might also suggest Apple is shifting its focus towards artificial intelligence (AI).
iPhone 16 to get more RAM and faster Wi-Fi
Technology analyst Jeff Pu mentioned in his research note for Haitong International Securities that all iPhone 16 series models, including the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, will feature 8GB of RAM. This marks a notable step up from their predecessors, which still make do with 6GB of RAM.
The non-Pro iPhone 16 models will also gain faster Wi-Fi 6E connectivity support, a feature already present on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

More RAM would help upcoming iPhones tackle AI-related tasks. Apple is said to be focusing heavily on AI, and there are rumors that the iPhone 16 series will introduce a Siri powered by generative AI.
Apple doesn’t want to lag behind in the AI race, as many major tech companies are fully embracing it. Google launched the Pixel 8 series, loaded with AI features, and Samsung is also going all in with the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.
Separately, Jeff Pu revealed that iPhone 16 Pro models could get an upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem. The non-pro iPhones could retain the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 modem, which is present on iPhone 15 series.
