Amazon Prime’s free games are easily accessible on the Steam Deck. There’s a treasure trove of forgotten redeemed games, so here’s how to play some of them.
Since we originally wrote this guide, significant updates have been made to playing non-Steam games on the Deck. We recommend using Non-Steam Launcher to make the entire process as easy as possible.
However, you’ll find the original method using Lutris below. Both methods require desktop mode, so we also suggest you use a Steam Deck dock, mouse, and keyboard to navigate through the menus.
Install Amazon Prime games with Non-Steam Launcher
- Switch to desktop mode
- Open a browser and head to NonSteamLauncher’s GitHub page
- Press the colorful download button
- Move the downloaded file out of your Downloads folder to somewhere memorable
- Double-click and press Execute
- When the menu pops up, be sure to update or install Proton-GE
- After that, it’ll relaunch the menu for you and restart Steam
- Choose Amazon from the list
- After you’re finished, head back to gaming mode by the desktop icon or by restarting
- Listed under “Non-Steam games” in the library, you’ll find Amazon and any other launchers you installed
Once you’re back in gaming mode, all you need to do is load up the Amazon launcher and use it as you would any other app. Non-Steam Launcher will even scrape your device to populate it with any games you install too.
Install Amazon Prime games with Decky
- Download & install Decky Loader
- Open Decky by pressing ‘Quick Access’ button
- Scroll down to the plug icon
- Select the shop icon
- Type & search ‘NonSteamLaunchers’ in text box
- Select install when prompted
- Return to Decky Loader
- Select ‘NonSteamLaunchers’ followed by ‘Game Launchers’
- Choose ‘Amazon Games’ & click install
- Navigate to the ‘Non-Steam’ tab of your Steam library
- Select Amazon Games thumbnail & click ‘Play’
- Select ‘Log-in’ in the upper right corner
- Log-in with Amazon Prime Gaming details
You can also access the Non-Steam Launcher through Decky. This method is ideal for those who already have Decky installed on their handheld.
If you don’t already have Decky up and running, you can check out our handy Decky guide.
After you have Decky on your Steam Deck, we need to access the Decky plug-in store. Select the options button on the handheld, and scroll down to Decky, represented by a small plug icon.
While in Decky, select the small store icon, next to the cog and type “NonSteamLaunchers” in the available text box. Once the NonSteamLauncher plug-in has appeared, select ‘install’ to get it downloaded onto your handheld.
Once installed, selecting NonSteamLaunchers through Decky will load up a list of game launchers, including ‘Amazon Games’.
Select the toggle next to ‘Amazon Games’ followed by ‘install’ to install Amazon Prime Gaming on your Steam Deck. It may take a few moments to fully install.
How to play Prime Gaming games with Lutris
- Switch Steam Deck to desktop mode
- Search and install ‘Lutris’ via Discover app
- Open Lutris & select the menu button
- Select ‘Preferences’ & navigate to ‘Sources’
- Toggle on ‘Amazon Prime Gaming’
- Enter Amazon Prime Gaming details when prompted
First, press the Steam button, choose power, and swap to desktop mode. We recommend using a keyboard and mouse with the Steam Deck, by connecting via a Steam Deck dock while navigating desktop mode. However, you can bring up the Steam Deck keyboard without connecting any additional peripherals, if you prefer.

If you haven’t updated Lutris or even installed it, you’ll first need to head into the Discover app. Here, download the latest version of Lutris and you’ll then need to add it to your list of sources.
At the top, hit the ‘hamburger’ menu button (three lines) and then choose preferences. Now, in the following menu, choose ‘Sources’. You’ll now be able to toggle on Amazon Prime Gaming, as well as any other stores you want to activate.
After this, close the window, and on the side and under sources, Amazon Prime Gaming should now be active. You can log in via the little figure, which will prompt you to sign in with Amazon. It’ll hang for a few seconds after signing in, which will then load the actual Amazon Store for a brief second while Lutris grabs your information.
After a brief wait, it’ll also scan for your games and you can begin installing them as usual. Choose your game, keep hitting continue and you should be up and running.
Any game not supported by Wine or Proton will still not work here – unless there’s a community workaround.
How to play Lutris or Heroic Amazon Prime games in Steam Deck Gaming Mode
This is a fairly simple solution, much like with the Epic Games Store. In Desktop Mode, open Steam, and in the bottom corner, press the plus button and ‘add non-Steam game’. This will prompt you to go searching for the ‘.exe’ file Amazon and Lutris installed.
Be sure to change the drop-down menu from ‘.desktop’ apps only, to ‘All Files’. Then, go to where Lutris defaults to (for us it’s ~/Deck/Games/amazon/) and choose the .exe file.
After, launch the Gaming Mode and head into your library. It should now be nestled under non-Steam apps. Before launching, enter the settings menu and choose ‘Compatability’. This will let you turn on Proton to play the game.
Save file warning
If you already have a save game, you should continue to play in Desktop mode. Proton won’t consider Wine or any other save files you have unless you manually copy them in after launching for the first time.
