PC and gadget makers Ayaneo are on a roll as they announce the launch of a newly updated version of the Retro Mini PC with a look inspired by the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The name Ayaneo has rapidly become familiar to tech enthusiasts, as the company has launched a huge range of PC devices. Ayaneo first became known for its handheld devices, which aimed to compete with the Steam Deck, but it was the first version of the Retro Mini PC that really caught our attention, receiving high marks in our review. Now Ayaneo is building on this success with the launch of a new and improved version of the Retro Mini PC, the AM02.
The Ayaneo Retro Mini PC AM01 is an astonishingly powerful and capable machine for its size and specification, bulldozing through emulation with ease and even managing to run high-end modern games. The sequel looks to be even better, sporting upgraded specs, such as the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, a step up from the Ryzen 7 5700U used in the AM01.
Retro style with modern power
Customers can choose from a range of models and specifications, with the highest-spec models featuring 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 1TB of SSD storage, and a range of connectors. This includes 1 USB type-C, 2 USB 3.2, a DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.0, as well as an Ethernet port and audio jack.

The aesthetic of the AM02 has been inspired by the Nintendo Entertainment System, complete with a little flip-up panel in the style of the NES. On the top is a 4” multi-function touch screen, so you don’t even necessarily need a monitor to use this little machine.
As usual for Ayaneo, orders are being taken through IndieGoGo, with prices for the AM02 ranging from $439 to $629 for the top-of-the-range model.
