While exploring Starfield, you’re free to carve your own path, but some choices such as selling Contraband or smuggling items might bring you unwanted legal attention. If you’re caught, there’s a price to pay for freedom.
If you do, bounties will be placed on your head. Naturally, however, if you act outside the law, you can expect some punishment. While there’s not exactly a wanted-level system like in GTA, the more criminal activities you engage in, the worse the repercussions.

Where to clear bounty in Starfield
To remove a bounty in Starfield, simply head to the nearest Trackers Alliance Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk.
These handy Kiosks can be found all across the galaxy. For a fee, you can clear your name and have any pending charges dropped, regardless of your actions. Here are a few places to find a Kiosk that will clear your bounty:
- New Atlantis – Viewport Bar
- Cydonia – Broken Spear Bar
- Cydonia – Deimos Staryard (in orbit)
- Neon – Astral Lounge
- Hopetown – Pit Stop Bar
- Akila City – Hitching Post Bar
- Andromas 1 – Civilian Outpost
- Trident Luxury Lines Space Station- Orbiting Akila
It’s worth noting Andromas 1 has a Civilian Outpost with no United Colonies or Freestar Collective presence, so you can remove your bounty without being attacked.
How to build a Bounty Clearance Kiosk in Your Outpost?
You can build a Bounty Clearance Kiosk in your Outpost by opening the Build Mode, opening the Miscellaneous tab and looking for Bounty Clearance Kiosk.

It’s important to note that you can build only one Bounty Kiosk per Outpost. Here are the materials you will need to build the kiosk:
- 2x Beryllium
- 2x Zero Wire
- 4x Aluminum
How much does it cost to clear a bounty?
Depending on what exactly you’re in trouble for, the cost of removing a bounty in Starfield can range from a measly 600 credits all the way to above 250,000.
If things get too out of hand, or you simply refuse to pay up, expect jail time to be next up if you’re caught.
Can you clear a bounty without paying credits?
You can clear your bounty in Starfield without paying if you don’t mind a little jail time. If you surrender to the guards, you will have the choice to go to jail.
If you accept going to jail, expect any stolen items and contraband to be confiscated. Some time will pass, but you will keep all your credits and your bounty will be cleared.
You will, however, incur an XP penalty for serving time. So make sure you choose wisely whether you want to spend credits or XP. There is no other way to clear your bounty in Starfield without paying credits.
