Oscar De La Hoya teased boxing and gaming fans with the promise of a “huge announcement” on social media.
The American was feeling nostalgic as he shared a picture of the front cover of video game Fight Night Round 3, on which he features, alongside the caption: “Wow time flies. Best selling boxing game ever! Over 6 million copies sold. Huge announcement soon regarding game sector.”
Fight Night Round 3 was released to acclaim in 2006 across a number of platforms and was the most popular edition of the Fight Night series.
Could a sixth Fight Night be on the way?
EA Sports released five Fight Night games in total, Fight Night 2004, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 and Fight Night Champion.
Fight Night Champion was released in 2011 and remains the most recent instalment in the series, but De La Hoya’s tweet was enough to get fans wondering if another EA Sports boxing video game is in the offing.

Jamel Herring replied to De La Hoya’s tweet, saying: “Convince @EASPORTS to make a new Fight Night… asap.”
It was reported in late 2021 that EA Sports had given the green light to a Fight Night revival but that it would be several years before it was released as the developer was focusing on UFC 5, which was released in October 2023.
With UFC 5 having now been on the shelves for a number of months, could an announcement on a new Fight Night be around the corner?
