Smash Ultimate’s latest event adds Warframe into the game’s universe

Warframe has made its shock entry into the Smash universe in the upcoming “Spirits in Black” event, with Lotus joining the roster as a spirit.

Lotus will now be able to guide you through Smash Ultimate as a spirit, with the so-called “Space Mom” of Warframe being added in the latest Spirits in Black event.

The Spirit Event, which will kick off on February 28, will run for five days, and will see players have the chance to battle her to obtain her powers.

The event was announced on the Japanese Smash. Bros account on February 25, leaving the community in hysterics. Lotus was featured front and center on the announcement, although she’s not the only spirit being released in this event.

Players will be able to pick Lotus up at 3am, 9am, 3pm, and 9pm local time, alongside Black Shadow from F-ZERO and other unannounced spirits.

Lotus is an advanced spirit with 1590 power at level 1, and can be enhanced at level 99, with rumors that she can evolve into Natah. However, not much else is known about the spirit and her powers yet, so players will have to wait until they battle her to find out just what she is really capable of.

Lotus’ spirit announcement also paves the way for a possible Warframe fighter in the future. Whether a Warframe Tenno makes it way in, or someone from the Corpus or another race, there’s plenty of classes to choose from.

With six slots left in the Smash Ultimate fighter pass before Sakurai and others wrap up the development of the game, the community is waiting to see who’ll get one of the hotly contested spots.

Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon was very keen to get one of his franchises’ characters in the game, although some possible fighters, like Sora from Kingdom Hearts, have already been ruled out.

The Spirits in Black event, featuring Lotus, kicks off on February 28, and will run for five days until Tuesday, March 3.
