Smash Ultimate “leak” claims LoL character coming in Fighters Pass Vol 2

Riot Games/Nintendo

An older leak claiming a League of Legends champion could be coming to Smash Ultimate has resurfaced after part of the prediction ended up being accurate.

On January 30, an anonymous user on 4chan created a post with several leaks claiming that a League of Legends character would be joining the roster, a Hollow Knight Mii Sword Fighter was coming and Seiken Densetsu 3 (Trials of Mana 3) spirits were being planned.

While the first two “leaks” haven’t been confirmed as of yet, Smash Ultimate did announce a Trials of Mana 3 Spirit Event would begin on April 24.

According to the leaker, who asked readers to reach out to their insiders to confirm the validity, the reason a League of Legends champion is coming to Smash is because the game will be releasing on consoles.

As for the champion, the leaker wasn’t sure, but included an image of Ahri and said they’d place their bets on her being the LoL fighter.

With one of the leaks being true or at least predicted, the rest of the rumors are gaining attention online, leading to the well-established leaker, Vergeben, saying he’ll look into the matter further in a now-deleted GameFaqs post.

The idea of a LoL champion being introduced in Smash may seem weird, especially given the type of relationship you’d think Nintendo and Riot would need in order for this to work.

Additionally, Riot does have their own LoL fighting game in development, codenamed “Project L,” so it really begs the question as to whether they’d event want a character in a rival fighter before their own is released?

As for the first of six new upcoming DLC fighters, we do know they will be from the ARMS series, but the other five remain anyone’s guess. Previous leaks have suggested that Crash Bandicoot will be joining the roster, but the claim suggested he would be released immediately after Byleth, which ended up not being the case.

Hopefully, we get more info about more fighters once the identity of the ARMS character is revealed in June.

So far, Nintendo hasn’t suggested that the Fighters Pass will be delayed despite the ongoing global events, so all the characters are scheduled to be released by December 31, 2021, for now.
