How to watch Smash Ultimate Sakurai Presents Minecraft Steve: date, more

Nintendo

With Minecraft’s Steve confirmed as the next Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighter, series creator Masahiro Sakurai will be diving into how the new character works in a special 45-minute stream. Here’s how you can tune in.

Steve and Alex are listed by Nintendo as a package deal, but that doesn’t mean there will be two different fighters. It seems more like Steve will be the standard fighter and Alex, Zombie and Enderman will be the alternate costumes.

This concept isn’t new for Smash Bros: Notably, Bowser JR has several alternate characters built-in, with the Koopalings all being costumes. In the past, some costumes have changed up a fighter’s gender without modifying the name, such as with Wii Fit Trainer, Byleth, Inkling and Pokemon Trainer to just name a few.

While the reception Steve received hasn’t been as hype as some had hoped, it’s possible that any negative feelings could be smoothed over with the fighter’s full presentation.

As for where to watch, viewers can check it out at Nintendo’s YouTube channel where a placeholder is currently set up.

What will the Steve and Alex presentation be about?

Just like with previous Sakurai presentations, we expect this one to feature the series creator going through the history of Minecraft, why Steve was included, the costumes, and the fighter’s moveset.

Sakurai may also briefly discuss any new features coming to Smash such as a new patch, and, of course, Steve’s release date.

Nintendo hasn’t announced whether or not another fighter will be revealed during the presentation, but in the past they have indicated when there wouldn’t be, so it’s possible that we hear some info about DLC Fighter 8 as well.
