A new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter is coming July 30 (July 31 in Europe). Dragon Quest’s Hero character is the latest fighter to be introduced to the ever-growing roster.

Finally, The Hero arrives

The Hero from Dragon Quest follows the most recent addition of Persona 5’s Joker. Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros series, revealed the new character in a livestream where he detailed The Hero’s skillset and gave us a glimpse of Yggdrasil’s Altar, the new Dragon Quest themed stage. This was no secret though, as the next character had previously been given away in a July video.

Version 4.0.0 details revealed

The exciting Super Smash Bros. Ultimate news comes on the same day as version 4.0.0 going live. Among the changes in the latest version is the ability to predict a winner in spectator mode which garners rewards for doing so, an online tournament mode, and a new very easy setting for adventure mode, a much-requested feature.

There is a less significant change whereby final Smash meters also drain and expire. As Smash Wiki state: “It allows players to have a chargeable meter and unleash a weaker Final Smash when the meter is filled.”

Which character is next?

The glut of characters has arguably made Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the most popular of the series since it first released all the way back in 1999.

The new characters aren’t expected to stop either with the notorious Banjo-Kazooie set to be launched before the winter. There will be a further two DLC fighters following the arrival of Banjo-Kazooie.
