Maria Georgas of The Bachelor Season 28 responded to critics saying she had an ulterior motive behind why she told Joey Graziadei she wanted to leave.
Maria Georgas has been one of the most talked about contestants on Season 28 of The Bachelor.
She’s been the main person in almost every argument featured on the show. Still, fans have even stood by her, saying that the other women are jealous of her.
Now, Maria is speaking out about those who have criticized her about how she told Joey Graziadei she wanted to leave before hometowns.

Episode 7 of The Bachelor saw six women vying for the top four spots in order to make it to their hometowns with Joey.
Though Maria is a front-runner, as Joey has chosen her time after time despite the drama, she told him she was so invested in him that she needed to leave the show.
This conversation came after Maria saw contestant Jenn Tran kiss Joey during one of his confessionals. She then detailed to him that she couldn’t go on seeing him with other women.
Not only that, but she prefaced how her dad wouldn’t want to meet the man she was bringing home while he was dating multiple other women.

Maria even walked off on Joey as they talked about whether she’d be leaving or not. However, she ended up pulling herself together and decided to stay.
After the episode aired, fans of the show criticized Maria for having an “ulterior motive” during her emotional one-on-one with Joey.
She has since responded to the critics, taking to social media to say that where she was “mentally” and emotionally at that time meant more to her than a rose.
She went on to say that Joey isn’t the only one who wants to be chosen, as she felt it important to be cherished just as much as she cherished him.
Maria also mentioned she wasn’t trying to ‘manipulate’ the situation; she was only “inside” her head and “jealous” of what was going on between Joey and other women.
Though Maria was on the verge of leaving, she was given a rose and will be taking Joey home to meet her dad. Fans can tune into ABC for The Bachelor’s next episode on Monday at 8:00 PM EST.
